We can all see that we must change the direction we are presently persuading our lives before it’s too late. There is no point in living in a world looking over one’s shoulders afraid of being attacked just because we have not the ability to share our lives.

To achieve a peaceful world we must share its resources.

Build shared prosperity by extending the hand of friendship, building hospitals, health systems centres, retirement homes, rehabilitation facilities, schools, with grants free of charge or repayment.

We must make richer societies provide a bigger portion of its wealth to building trust between communities, cultures, countries, tying the world together, not pushing it apart for the sake of I am all right JACK.

The old proverb is true “ YOU CANNOT EAT MONEY “ but you can eat-away trust, which is exactly what Mr TRUMP & Mr PUTIN are doing for no reason other than self glorification.

WHO WANTS TO LIVE ON A WORLD RUN BY MACHINES FOR MACHINES.

NOT ME.

STOP THESE WARS AND START BUILDING TRUST. THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL WE LEAVE SOMETHING WORTH WHILE BEHIND.

THESE ARE THE WORDS OF FELLOW HUMAN, WHO IS RECOVERING FROM A TRIPLE BYPASS NOT A ARTIFICIAL GENERATED ASSHOLE ALGORITHMIC PLATFORM.

THE BEADY EYE ASK’S: IS THE USA ITCHING FOR YET ANOTHER WAR?

( Four minute read)

The U.S. is in danger of slow-walking itself into a war with Iran.

ONE WOULD THINK:  THAT AFTER THE RECENT US INVOLVEMENT IN DISASTROUS WARS, THAT IT AND ALL OF US, WOULD LEARN THAT MILARTY DETERRENCES DON’T WORK.

Since Biden refuses to pressure Israel to stop its bombardment of Gaza and accept a ceasefire, he is escalating the US confrontation with the Houthis.

Biden and his administration are practically sleepwalking the US into another war.

In the process, Biden risks entangling the US in another open-ended conflict, which is likely to expand by accident or miscalculation, rather than by design.

Either way, it threatens to prolong the forever war.

With persistent support of Israel, the Biden administration has alienated its allies in the Arab world and is now a heartbeat or an election result away from another war that it will lose.

The Gaza invasion has already spilled into clashes in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and the Red Sea.

They all require serious effort and inevitable trade-offs.

Why

Because it’s nearly impossible to dislodge an Indigenous insurgent movement without a huge commitment of ground troops.

Because today’s U.S. military is not designed to fight wars against two major rivals simultaneously.

This isn’t because the United States is in decline.

It’s because unlike the United States, which needs to be strong in all three of these places, each of its adversaries—China, Russia, and Iran—only has to be strong in its own home region to achieve its objectives.

Because in past conflicts, it was always able to outproduce its opponents. That’s no longer the case:

Because in past conflicts, it could easily outspend adversaries. That’s no longer the case:

All of that pales alongside the human costs that the United States could suffer in a global conflict.

In the event of a Chinese attack on Taiwan, the United States would be hard-pressed to rebuff the attack while keeping up the flow of support to Ukraine and Israel.

——————-

The US administration has multiple options to lean on the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

It could threaten to withhold billions of dollars in military aid, which allow Israel to continue its assault, or it could stop using Washington’s veto power on the UN security council to quash resolutions calling for a ceasefire.

The Houthis are portraying themselves as one of the few forces in the Middle East willing to stand against Israel and its western allies in defence of the Palestinian cause. Aside from the Houthis and Hamas, the alliance also includes several Shia militias in Iraq and Syria, and the powerful Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

True global leadership at this moment means de-escalation and forging visions for a just future for all.

Without demanding a ceasefire in the immediate future, the putative US/UK commitment’s to peace rings hollow and feels more like it’s been overshadowed by their own and very real addictions to war.,

Any sane person would hear this.

Do most Americans realize how steeped in violence their country is?

A country beholden to its own violence’s is not limited to mass murderers.

How many of us have read the Creed of a United States Marine? “My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life,” it states, along with “my rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.”

Maybe this makes sense as part of military indoctrination but, let’s face it, culturally, we are all expected to buy into this idea, and with interest.

The truth of the matter is that the US make a lot of war.

Military conflicts make up perhaps 93% of its history. Roughly a quarter of the country has lived only in a time of war. And within that history, American weapons are an industry, a mythology and identity simultaneously.

Why do they call armed, military helicopters “Apache” helicopters for goodness’ sake?

When will the US face the fact that it is a country baked in its own violence, much of it racist in intent and effect?  That reflects its own genocidal and racist past. If they were to be honest they would see that this dark heart of violence is not simply a partisan issue but is a much longer and more intimate part of its our own national tragedy.

The double standard with Israel and Palestine leaves us in moral darkness.
Every one of us must stand up and denounce the killing of every civilian, Israeli or Palestinian or otherwise.
What exactly counts as a provocation?
3 or thousands,
Who gets to count as human?
There’s the nagging hypocrisy of the war in Ukraine.
So many around the world support Ukraine’s resistance to foreign occupation (as they should) but
blithely deny Palestinians any way to resist their occupation.
The only war that matters is the war on Climate Change. It will have no Treaty no Deterrence’s, no
Winners, no End.
All human comments appreciated. All like clicks and abuse chucked in the bin.

( Eight minute read.)

When you look at the state of the world you have to ask yourself have we all lost our marbles, and where is the protest voice of the Young.Afficher l'image d'origine

You could say that we are well along in the process of causing our own extinction and the planet has officially entered its sixth mass extinction event.

Such a view is now beginning to occasionally find its way into mainstream consciousness.

The situation is already so serious with so many self-reinforcing feedback loops already in play it seem we are on a rolling coaster, incapable of acting,or if we do, it will be after the event, if there is anything left to save.

We have a vast choice of the end-of-humanity scenarios to pick from, to derail life as we know it.

For example:

A self-induced catastrophe such as nuclear war or a bioengineered pandemic. Disruptive innovation and technological changes, Solar storms, Cosmic collisions, Super volcanoes, Rising sea levels, overcrowding, denuded resources to mention just a few.

We’re driving to extinction at least 150 species each day.

Nuclear power plants require grid-tied electricity, cooling water and people getting paychecks. Without all these, they melt down, thus immersing all life on earth in ionizing radiation.

As if the above is not enough we are now selling or most valuable resource – Intelligence. Afficher l'image d'origine

So what can be done?

First of all, internal and external issues are more linked than ever. Now, more than ever, we need principled leaders with an understanding of history.

Freedom and the rule of law are under threat.

Why?

Because while the world teeters on a precipice of being plundered by Capitalist Artificial intelligence. A new reality is taking shape: war is called peace, a bloody victory is a step towards reconciliation, and a terrorist regime is a legitimate power.

The further we removed ourselves from the world the worse will be our encounter with the world beyond.

Ignoring the unregulated introduction of Artificial Intelligence.

All causing disillusionment and confusion with the great visions of the future, all are demanding that we cope as one with the present reality with our ability to protest hijacked by Internet petitions sites that are ignored or focused on parochial problems.

An individuals future is shaped ultimately by environmental factors.

The year 2017 opens on a world laid to waste. Some areas are littered with mass graves and there doesn’t seem to be any big global rush to reduce emissions as a result of the Paris Climate Agreement.

In the end, no amount of research can do much to prevent permafrost melting realising, methane – a greenhouse gas 100 times more potent than carbon dioxide on a shorter timescale into the atmosphere, warming it further, which in turn causes more permafrost to melt, and so on.

Scientists estimate up to 13 percent of global carbon emissions come from deforestation – greater than emissions from every car, truck and plane on the planet combined.

Because Globalism is an ideology, and its struggle with nationalism it will shape the coming era.

Afficher l'image d'origineAfficher l'image d'origine

Donald J. Trump five months short of seventy-one will take office on January 20. His election tips us into the unknown threatened disengagement from the world.

Mother Teresa in the Uk wants disengagement from the EU.

Both are successful alpha personalities.  Both work in progress—“Everything is negotiable”—both displaying a single-minded determination to impose their vision on the world, an irrational belief in unreasonable goals, bordering at times on lunacy.

From Brexit to Trump to the rise of nationalist parties across Europe, the old division between left and right is giving way to a battle between self-styled patriots and confounded globalists.

For decades, trade, industrialization and demographics produced a virtuous circle of rising prosperity. By the 2000s, globalism was triumphant.

IT IS NOW OVERREACHED AND BLIND to the nationalist backlash, not to mention the new form of Globalisation – Artificial Intelligence.

Many globalists now assume that the discontent is largely driven by stagnant wages and inequality. If people are upset about immigration, they reason, it is largely because they fear competition with low-wage workers and not the technological Revolution that is replacing their need to work in the first place. Yet their faith in open borders remains unshaken.

That crisis has woken up globalists to the flaws of globalization but not it seems to me the pending exploration of Apps run on Algorithms that are designed to create profit for the Monopolies of the Internet.  Facebook, Twitter, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, to mention a few.

Many of the tech industry’s biggest companies, like Amazon, Google, IBM and Microsoft, are jockeying to become the go-to company for A.I. In the industry’s lingo, the companies are engaged in a “platform war.”

The company that controls A.I. will steer the tech industry for years to come.

In fact, much of the backlash against immigration (and globalism) is not economic but cultural: Many people still care about their own versions of national identity and mistrust global institutions such as the EU.

These voters are bothered less by competition from immigrants than by their perceived effect on the country’s linguistic, religious and cultural norms. About how changes to “the composition of the local population” would affect “their neighborhoods, schools and workplaces.”

They might have their priorities slightly wrong.

Is the new nationalism a cloak for ethnic and religious exclusion?

New nationalism often thrives on xenophobia.

Globalists should not equate concern for cultural norms and national borders with xenophobia.

There must be some sort of middle ground between a nationalist and globalist approach. In short, there is ample reason for skepticism about whether the new nationalists can prove themselves a genuinely secular, democratic alternative to globalism.

If globalists are to regain the public’s trust, they will need to re-examine their own policies. Political capital might be better invested in preserving existing trade pacts, not passing new ones. Many European globalists blame the euro’s crisis on too little integration, not too much. But pressing for a more federal Europe could further alienate voters who “do not share our Euro-enthusiasm,”

Borders use to mean something, but this version of civilization is the least sustainable of them all. We cannot sustain the unsustainable forever in a world more interconnected.

In fact, 2017 is looking pretty bad…Russia dominating the world order. But it too will pop. New cyber attacks.

In this context, the basic principles of democratic life in both Europe and the U.S. — truth, fact-based reality, justice and the rule of law — are being gradually eroded.

The most important thing is to understand what might steer us towards a more secure world order, where respect for the rule of law and for international bodies are granted their proper place.

European powers may choose to find strength in their union. Brought together by the need to combat those who threaten fundamental European values, Paris, Berlin, Rome and the Benelux countries could launch new initiatives to bring about real European cooperation.

Should these institutions find themselves unable to take a stand and act according to global interests and basic values, there is no reason why 2017 should not continue in the same vein as 2016, and the consequences may be irreversible.

It’s time to abandon our usual pessimism about the state of the planet and the course of history. We’ve got many challenges to overcome, but it might be a good idea to adopt a bit of youthful optimism when it comes to confronting them.

We need to create a hope insurgency.

Despite half of the world’s youth living on less than two dollars a day.

A social media revolution is unfolding before our eyes, forever changing the way we connect. This generation, the most interconnected generation ever, continues to grow rapidly, but its voice is diluted by Social media making the challenges they face are ever more daunting.

We need to ask ourselves:

How can we can empower youth to drive social progress. From crowd-sourcing initiatives and mobile-projects to innovation jams and social media campaigns.

Whatever changes you would like to effect in our society has to begin with you.Afficher l'image d'origine

The best leaders the world has ever known are the reformers who were accountable and responsible for their own change.

The commitment for change has no days off, does not allow for excuses, does not allow for pardons. If you want to see change you must first start within.

It’s that simple and it’s that profound.

So where is the Global YOUTH Outrage?Afficher l'image d'origine

Before there were blogs and tweets – even Wikipedia – to turn to, the mainstream media held a monopoly over knowledge and news which was hard to challenge. Now all knowledge is being collected by Google to feed Artificial Intelligent Algorithms.

THE world must change to meet the wave of popular uprising which catapulted Donald Trump to power and brought about Brexit. The world can be changed as much by education as by being harangued. It’s time for international leaders to bury their liberal attitudes and address the concerns of the masses. It is time for government to act in the long-term interest of the people, even if they do not agree in the short-term.

The twin pillars of liberalism and globalisation which have dominated politics over the past generation must adapt to a “world transformed”.

Society is changing rapidly and I fear that many organisations are failing to notice and are being left behind. I suspect that the scale of such a change can only really be appreciated in hindsight.

In the rich world, particularly, the first generation that has rung up a huge national debt and established a huge unfunded pension scheme is about to retire. The interesting, to say the least, question is whether the next generation will be willing to carry this burden and peacefully pay the debt and peacefully pay the pensions. I think not.

WILL THE WORLD OF 2052 BE A BETTER WORLD?

It’s important to note that people 35 years from now will judge their circumstance more on how it has changed from their own recent past than from our vantage point of today.

Billion will have some level of Internet access, be much better informed, and be increasingly helped by local solar energy. They will have many fewer children. They will be largely urban (except for the minority still living off the land). They will grapple with overall effects of climate damage, but those in dense urban areas will likely have little firsthand experience with the damage caused by the erratic weather (though plenty of secondhand information via electronic media). They will live with the unpleasant knowledge that even more climate impacts lie ahead.

There will be huge differences between people and Artificial Intelligence.

There is be no such thing as the Free Market.

People power hopefully will have transformed the world. From a psychological perspective, probably no, because the future prospects in 2052 will be grim.

University is where such simplistic notions are supposed to be challenged, but they now educate for the market place and not for Intelligence.

The winners of tomorrow will be those organizations with strong leaders who demonstrate agility, authenticity, connectivity to their talent, and sustainability.

By 2018, at least 50 percent of developers will include A.I. features in what they create. The goal is to capture all human knowledge and turn it in saleable AI. It’s where the capitalist market is headed.

No worries, you might say: you could just program it to make

The superintelligent machine manufactures some as-yet-uninvented raw-computing material (call it “computronium”) and uses that to check each doubt. But each new doubt yields further digital doubts, and so on, until the entire earth is converted to computronium.

When a computer became capable of independently devising ways to achieve goals, it would very likely be capable of introspection—and thus able to modify its software and make itself more intelligent. In short order, such a computer would be able to design its own hardware.

If this sounds absurd to you, you’re not alone.

I am one protesting voice in the wilderness of the virtual reality, but I am sure there are billions.

The problem is unifying them into one collective protest to demand that the United nations pass a people’s resolution to give all artificial Intelligence and technological advances a stamp of human approval.

THE BEADY EYE ASKS: WHAT ARE THE PRESENT GREATEST THREAT TO THE WORLD.

( A Six minute Read)

If you were to be asked this question the answer might not be as obvious as you think.

You might say for example: Climate Change, Wars /ISIS, Inequality, Fresh Water, Nuclear Weapons, Donald Trump, Drugs, the list is endless.

All of these are reversible if we applied an ounce of collective world intelligence.

If you were honest with ourselves you would have no option but to point the finger at us as the greatest threat to the world.

It’s difficult to think of a problem in today’s world that it doesn’t either cause or compound by humanity. This is our greatest challenge: learning to live in a crowded and interconnected world that is creating unprecedented pressures on human society and on the physical environment.

Afficher l'image d'origine

Here are two of the greatest threats:

The Smartphone and AI.

With more than 1 billion users worldwide and 2.5 million apps — and counting — available across Google and Apple’s digital marketplaces, smartphones are impacting day-to-day life in some surprising ways.

The smartphone’s role in shaping human interaction is far-reaching,whose functionality is constantly evolving and is now a pocket-size PC. The device seems to have limitless potential.  The majority of Internet traffic (60 percent) now comes from mobile devices.

Smartphones are affecting how the brain processes information. Google, fields more than 1 billion search queries per day — is changing how the brain catalogs knowledge. Smartphones have become a kind of “external memory source.”

We are becoming symbiotic with our computer tools, growing into interconnected systems that remember less by knowing information than by knowing where the information can be found.

Information is so rapid and up-to-the-minute. … Ten years ago, we’d all be crowding around a television to hear what’s happening, and now we have our phones.

There’s no longer an excuse for stupidity.

Future generations will have different priorities about what they choose to remember. Smartphones will become more than just a device in our pockets but something closer to a digital extension of ourselves.

The threat to the world is not that machines are taking over. It’s that they’re helping us to be more human, helping us to connect with each other regardless of geography.

60 percent of users don’t go more than an hour without checking their phone.

36 percent of smart phone users would rather give up their TV than their smart phone.

There are more than 125 million people in the Middle East region are online, and more than 53 million actively use social networks.

The widespread use of smartphones was a defining factor in the development of the spread of Arab Spring both in how protesters shared information with one another and how events were documented by legions of impromptu citizen journalists.

Now combine the Smartphone with the impotence of global governance combined with the lack of Inspirational leaders there is an ever growing pool of evidence that we are all becoming dependent on  AI-powered assistance intelligence (without a conscience or any long-term planning.)

Afficher l'image d'origine

As AI advances, it will embed itself even deeper into our social fabric, shaping everything from how we do business to how we receive medical care.

It will become so commonplace that we will dependent on it. The technology may pit us against our own human nature:

What happens to risk, or the humanistic notion of what is true, when everything is based on everyone else? When our digitized advisors aggregate, average, and assuage, are we even autonomous beings anymore?

Political positions, financial decisions, attitudes toward social justice—our biggest decisions are often fueled by poor logic and misinformation. In the best circumstances, artificial intelligence could save us from ourselves, by helping us understand each other, see the world more clearly, and collectively make better decisions.

However if we do not acknowledge and take on board people’s valid concerns with AI we risk seeing the potential benefits of these technologies lost under a mountain of fear and negativity.

We need our out of date United Nations to have a mature, informed and inclusive world meeting about the future of automation and the potential impact of new technologies in order to ensure that this new power is used responsibly in the economic and moral sense.

At the moment there is no proper regulation around the use of AI.

Of course the UN is incapable of holding such a meeting so perhaps it is time for a new Institution called World Click (for example) to bring the whole of technology under a world umbrella.

If we care about the world we live in, we should think long and hard about the interfaces, rules, and policies that will govern artificial intelligence and our new way of life.

It would be easy enough for the people who design AI systems, motivated by greed, self-interest, or politics, to train computers to manipulate our lives in subtle and insidious ways, essentially lying to us through the algorithms that guide our thinking.

The coming tidal wave of decision support threatens to give very few people a phenomenal amount of suggestive power over a great many people—the kind of power that is hard to trace and almost impossible to stop.

Every day, Capitalism and the free market is moving into a digital age which is run more and more by algorithms that will only make those that own them richer while the world is about get poorer and poorer due to Climate change.

What is the alternative? Is there an alternative?

Global governance failure is the most interconnected of the global risks—it has a direct connection with 75% of the all the risks covered in this blog.

Of course the next threat Climate Change has the potential to wipe most of us of the face of the earth.

Changes in climate and weather patterns worldwide are converging with social trends, shifting populations, land use change, and increasingly impaired water infrastructure to dramatically make life worse for those across the globe.

Climate change poses several challenges to water management strategies including extreme events, dwindling water supply, and the increasingly incorrect assumption that the past will accurately predict future conditions.

Simply put Climate change “is the greatest collective challenge we face as a human family.  It like AI has the capacity to change the way all of us live.

In much the same way great powers have fought wars over land and oil, we could see battles for the control of freshwater supplies.

Next Inequality.

The growing disparity in the wealth inside countries and among countries is a challenge the world has faced for centuries.

At the end of the 9/11 era, politics is driving the global economy, while economics drives geopolitics. All of this is playing out against a volatile G-Zero backdrop of global leadership in short supply.

Chronic fiscal imbalances are going to emerge as one of  the greatest global risk over the next decade.

Moving On. Fresh Water/ Food.

The potential for food crises in poor countries due to Climate change will  cause governments collapse. Sustaining growth will be one of the century’s big challenge.

An estimated 4bn to 5bn people in the world suffer from strained access to clean water, with the Middle East in particular likely to be a hotspot for struggles around water supply. Agriculture already accounts for on average 70pc of total water consumption and, according to the World Bank, we would need to ramp up food production by 50pc by 2030 to meet the needs of the world’s population.

Not forgetting Energy.

Satisfying ever-growing energy demand in a sustainable way has become the world’s biggest challenge.”

On top of all that we live today under the threat of global terrorism….Cyber is probably the threat least known, most ignored…and eventually…could be the most catastrophic….

Then we have, the spread of nuclear weapons, and selling of arms.

A potential Donald Trump presidency could be more dangerous to the world’s economy than the rising tide of global terrorism. The greatest risk to global stability over the next 20 years may be the nature of America itself.

If you have got this far I am sure like me you are saying so what.  We fucked no matter what we do.

Not so.

We are on the threshold of a new revolution maybe without a leader but thanks to Technology we have the Smartphone that if called upon could be turned into World people’s power to demand change.

To stop Profit for Profit’s sake, To stop arms trading, To stop CO2 emissions, To stop Wars, to create if not a fair world at least a transparent justice first world before we contaminate the rest of the universe.

The fact is if a million smartphones were to campaign on a daily basis change could be achieved.   Of all the threats to human society they have the silent power to unite the little consensus that there is left amongst us all.

The argument that only a very bright man could have been such a successful businessman only reveals the understandable fact that few of us ever interacted with billionaires. Very bright billionaires exist, but they are no more common than very bright professors or plumbers or doctors.

IQ= business success.

Around two-thirds of people have an IQ between 85 and 115. About 5% score higher than 125, and about 5% score below 75.

So despite Trump’s assurances about how smart he is. Is he an utter inflated jackass or is he indeed intelligent.Afficher l'image d'origineTrump has served no public office and his candidacy has been bedevilled with controversy.

This is the man who once said that illegal Mexican immigrants were mostly murderers and rapists, who pledged to stop Muslim migration and who asked the question: “If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?”

He graduated from Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and anthropology.

He generally expresses himself in an extremely unsophisticated and sophomoric manner. He doesn’t just see himself as a man, he sees himself as a brand. And that’s what he’s been selling his whole life. The election is just one more sales pitch.

How he got off the ground is disputed. “It has not been easy for me,” Trump told an audience in 2015, “my father gave me a small loan of a million dollars.”

That’s misleading.

The company that Donald took over in 1971 – the Trump Organization – was essentially the family business rebranded, and at various points in his career his father helped either as a silent partner, guarantor of loans or by providing capital to keep the wheels oiled. For instance, when one of Donald’s casinos floundered, Fred bought $3.5 million in gaming chips – but didn’t use them.

So who is he?

He was born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York. His mother, Mary, came from an island off Scotland. His father, Frederick Christ Trump, was of German descent.

In 1977, Donald married the beautiful Czech athlete and model Ivana Zelnickova Winklmayr – and their shoulder-padded, gold-plated marriage turned them into a yuppie king and queen. In 1985, they bought their very own Versailles: the 118-room Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Parts of the estate were turned into a resort for private members.

In 1991, Divorce proceedings began with Ivanka.

Donald was having an affair with the actress Marla Maples, a relationship that would also end in legal separation in 1999. In 2004, Donald married the Slovenian-born model Melania Knauss. Two of the guests at the wedding were Bill and Hillary Clinton.

His key to success is make an unreasonable demand in order to strike a deal for less but which still leaves him the winner. As he wrote in his 1987 manifesto The Art of the Deal: “Sheer persistence is the difference between success and failure.”

The Trump title had been used to sell “water, Israeli energy drinks, cologne, Virginian wine, vodka, furniture” – and, most controversially, a university.

People assume that because of his sometimes questionable business successes, that he must be intelligent and sharp.

The answer is that Trump apparently has few or no aides who would ask such a question.

In fact, at least with regard to foreign policy, Trump has boasted about consulting with himself.

With a man who operates by such a strange mix of calculation and egomania, it’s hard to tell how much method is in the madness. He’s picked fights with celebrities that seem designed just to gain attention.

The big myth about Trump that needs exploding is the idea that he stumbled into politics without a game plan. Again, that’s branding.

The reality is that his carefully choreographed flirtation with the presidency goes back decades. He has so far defied the rules of American politics and has succeeded because, for all his many flaws, his instincts are far closer to those of the average American than his rivals can match.

Ultimately, Trump has won votes for the same reason that he’s been a success in business. The sales pitch has been smart and God forbid many people rather like the product.

THE BEADY EYE LOOKS AT USA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

( A thought)

It may not seem like it should cost so much to stand on a stage and tell people why they should vote for you.Afficher l'image d'origine

Just how much?

The answer comes with an elephant-size asterisk in the USA.

In 2012 the presidential election cost $2 billion, and this year’s election is expected to reach $5 billion!

Trump himself says his net worth varies from day-to-day according to what mood he’s in.

To outsiders, the US presidential election contest must look rude, vulgar, overcrowded, angry, stupid, and dangerous. The race for the White House can appear a ridiculous spectacle to the casual observer.

In an age when knowledge is a mark of elitism, ignorance is power personified by Trump.

He’s under the illusion that he’s 10 times richer than he is, believes President Obama was born in Brobdingnag to the Queen of Sheba and thinks childhood vaccination caused the movie Rain Man. Russia, China, Iran, Isis, the Taliban and Hamas will be paralysed with fear.

Who knows what this lunatic will do?

Thus, so far, Trump is the best America can do against his rival Hillary Clinton, who claimed she and her quarter-of-a-million-dollars-a-speech husband were “dead broke” when they left the White House.

Hillary carries more baggage than the Boeing.

After a seemingly endless parade of campaign announcements and abandonments, debates and stump speeches – not to forget weekly controversies born from the mouth of Donald Trump – the 2016 presidential election is finally upon us.

On the 8th November.  Finally, on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, well over a hundred million Americans will go to the polls to elect the next president of the United States.

One of the world’s biggest un-popularity contests.

To be sure, voters’ opinions could change over the next several months but the world is watching one of the biggest farce ever. But what does it all signify?

So why is capitalism and its proponents not taking a victory lap? And why in the European Union are nativist, xenophobic and racist forces on the rise, as most visibly manifested with the Brexit vote? And why is the far right and far left in ascendancy in so many countries?

Trump was formally crowned as the presidential candidate for the Republican Party, a position he won by deriding the political and economic establishments for caring not a whit about average Americans, and by mocking and showing no fealty to his own party’s nomenklatura.

it’s because of the paralysis of the corporate state, ie. the inability of the corporate state to respond rationally to the problems facing the citizenry that you vomit up a figure like Trump. But Trump is not the phenomena; Trump responds to the phenomena

Now there is growing concern America is turning into an oligarchy – and democracy is disappearing as a consequence. “There is no democracy, it’s bought and sold,”

American like Europe Union has generated an enormous divide between the haves and have-nots. For the 1 per cent, corporate sector, banks, hedge funds and brokerage houses, the empire is working just fine.

“Like in Rome it’s going to be ungovernable for the next 75 years.” And that’s because the domestic population is growing restless and angry with their increasingly desperate economic lot.

This anger and frustration at the grassroots propelled Trump to his current candidacy for president, who has focused the rage at minorities, women and Muslims.

Hillary Clinton will almost assuredly take over as president.

So you put Clinton in power and you know you may get rid of Trump as a particular figure but you’re not going to get rid of that phenomena. You will certainly see another Trump-like demagogue rise up as this legitimate anger ripples through society. I don’t think either Trump or Clinton have any interest or any capacity to fundamentally alter the system.”

“Democracy,” in America is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

No matter as the All-Seeing Eye on the back of the one dollar bill will still be the winner.
