(Seven-minute read)

Here is a man that operates on a wing, whim and Twitter.

Trump delivers remarks following the US Military killing against Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad, Iraq [Tom Brenner/Reuters]

A man that can’t resist an opportunity to declare his own success with a malign indifferent to reality.

Mathematically incompatible with a 35% popularity country wise and 80% Republican wise. His approval rate is 53% in Russia.

Even before his Facebook election back on January 20, 2017, he had already made a mockery of good governance norms. Any media institution that accurately reports information he doesn’t like he denigrates.

Worldwise fake news outlets and not so rigorous real ones celebrate his victory.

He’s been called an idiot, labelled unchristian, and has even been compared to Hitler and Mussolini. In fact, it’s difficult to find a single world leader who has come out in favour of President Trump.

His international policies on everything from the Muslim ban to the Wall to the Paris Climate Agreement have made him one of the most unpopular presidents in the history of the United States.

There is no need here to list his accomplishments but there is one thing that is becoming clear with the largest arms deal in history, 110 billion$ of arms to Saudi Arabia linked to the majority of deaths in US terrorist attacks he is intentionally or unintentionally setting up the Middle East for a war.

By recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital he endorsed Israel, not the Palestinians. Since his election colonization by Israel has surged with an invigorated enthusiasm. (Remember that Jerusalem contains sites sacred to the three major monotheistic faiths Judaism- Islam- Christianity.)

He mocked North Korean leader Kim Jon-un during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2017 and followed that up by saying he would “totally destroy” North Korea.

Donald Trump is abandoning America’s role as enlightened hegemon, eliminating America’s secret weapon, its soft power.

He is now impeached for allegations that his country colluded with Ukraine in order to rig the US election. He, of course, denies all claims.

If Trump is impeached, is that necessarily the best outcome for our country?

Impeachment over his communications with Ukraine hasn’t affected him more than as a minor annoyance. Because he is both shortsighted and for sale. His old stomping ground of business has many burnt bridges. He loves being the centre of public attention.

Let’s be clear:

Donald Trump is an idiot. I’ve tried to find different, perhaps more parliamentary adjectives to describe him, but none was clear enough. He is an idiot.

If there’s one true form of American entertainment, it’s political figures saying dumb things in person and on the Internet.

The man that gave us the Apprentice, the Miss Universe pageant, and the phrase “Donald Trump hair” is said to have a pathological temper. Pathological, there’s no cure for that.

He tore up the nuclear arms limitation treaty with Iran which was negotiated with Great Britain, Russia, China, Great Britain, France, Germany, the USA and Iran.

In terms of importance, there are other, more important issues we should focus on.

The point here is that getting into the Donal Trump mud will not work even if he loses in 2020 and does so in a campaign and a culture that has mainstreamed his brand of bullying and boorish behaviour, he wins a sort of victory one that is likely to last beyond another four years.

How long will Republicans continue to enable this fool?

Why is Donald Trump so determined to start a war with Iran by investing in a policy of fear?

That’s the way Mussolini arrived and the way Hitler arrived.

You’d never know what he will believe tomorrow.

America needs to build a big enough wall to keep himself from escaping as he has just tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinder box with a gift to all terrorists in the Middle East region even if Soleimani was responsible for unthinkable violence.

What is clear in the wake of the killing of Oasem Soleimani he doesn’t really get what made America great in the first place.

Make no mistake, Donald Trump is weakening America.

Trump is now directing his ‘wisdom’ on the Middle East a man that just says and does whatever comes into his head, usually bypassing his brain.

Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani

If Iran decides to confront the US, Iraq will be the scene for that battle. Sod the consequences. Death by a thousand cuts.

God forbid that Donald Trump is assassinated.

Because doing that would only make him more noteworthy in history.

If you think that killing Trump will stop the government from being crazy, racist, self-serving lunatics driven by corruption, greed, and profit?

Guess again.

Look at his social media prowess where he has called himself the  “the Ernest Hemingway of 140 characters”. ( He frequently uses Twitter and other social media platforms to make comments about other politicians, celebrities and daily news.) and you will see a novel political relationship between Trump and his followers.

He effortlessly dominated the conversation online which translated into mainstream media coverage.

This despite the fact that nobody with any actual smarts believes an IQ score to be indicative of actual real-world intelligence.

In truth, it is worth mentioning that there are signs the media is fighting back.

One study found that of Trump’s millions of Facebook followers, only 42% were from America.

But, again, he doesn’t care he paints himself as an everyman (an everyman with who lives in a $100m penthouse with a rudimentary understanding of the elements of the internet.

It remains to be seen whether a man so hateful, so farcical, a man whose permanent expression is that of someone whose drunk friends superglued his eyebrows into a frown while he was sleeping.

As there is going to be plenty of online support for Muslims, and defence of Islam, in the wake of Trump’s actions. It’s not enough for politicians worldwide to be able to adeptly read an Autocue. They’d better be able to take a decent selfie and understand a meme, too.

2020 will be a whirling dervish of chaos of a year as he now represents an enormous danger to the whole of the world.

Let’s hope he goes bankrupt for the seventh time.

All human comments appreciated. All like clicks and abuse chucked in the bin.

THE BEADY EYE ASKS: CAN AMERICA BLAME ITS ANTIQUATED VOTE SYSTEM OR DID TWITTER AND FACEBOOK ALGORITHMS ELECT TRUMP.

( A three-minute read for all Americans and all of us who value the freedom of a  Vote)

This week, Americans elected a new president who had essentially no support from mainstream politicians or media, SENDING THE CAPITALIST WORLD INTO A FRENZY OF VERBAL DIARRHEA.

How on earth did this happen?

Something else (aside from the design of the Electoral College) was needed to put Trump in the White House.

You don’t get people to see things your way by calling them idiots and racists, or sorting them into baskets of deplorables and pitiables, but with the help of Twitter and Facebook you can sow the seeds of discontent whether true or not.  Its called virtual community manipulation of what they do rather than where they are.

To speak the truth is no longer needed to gain power.

If you bend your values in challenging, strained times they’re not worth much at all when the going gets better.

In that sense, this posting may seem futile, but to any Americans reading this who are presently frustrated by a political system that does not necessarily reward the candidate with the most votes I would pass on this observation.

It is very interesting that the great symbol that is situated in the harbor of New York City, the Statue of Liberty, is a woman, carrying a torch, with her book of wisdom in hand, the crown of light atop of head, and a torch of light held high with her right hand.

She is the keeper of lost wisdom and the guide for lost souls.

She is also a painful reminder that the liberty she promises is now becoming enslaved to a world of algorithm systems.

Trump was much better than Hillary Clinton at social media use.

Trump’s Twitter — full of ranting tweet storms and things he regretted — looks in broad outline like the account of a human who likes Twitter. Clinton’s looks like a brand.

Plainly, Trump’s election and the Brexit vote are rebellions against elite opinion — that is, against political orthodoxy and its defenders.

In both cases, the question is, how does one account for the uprising?

There’s no single reason.

What they have in common is anger at the existing economic order, and the use of social media.

You might think that after a price tag of $6.8 billion in vested interests (That’s more than what consumers spend on cereal ($6 billion), pet grooming ($5.4 billion) and legal marijuana ($5.4 billion),  would produce a leader better than a man who has spouted misogynistic, racist, xenophobic and climate change-denying views.

Not so.

As we’ve learned in this election, bullshit is highly engaging, with Mr President Trump not giving a flying toss whether he Tweeted the truth or otherwise, but it means that Twitter is harmful — it provides an echo chamber that confirms and intensifies dangerous false views — then there’s not as much it can do about it.

Tweaks to the algorithm won’t help.

As a result we can all look forward to having the biggest megaphone in the world in Jan of next year.

We are entering dangerous times not because of Trump’s Election but because Facebook and Twitter algorithms, of a shapes and sizes are now deciding the government of the United States not the vote.

Both Facebook and twitter news feeds were responsible for fueling “highly partisan, fact-light media outlets” that propelled Donald Trump’s ascension to the presidency.

But Facebook is just a clicks-and-shares company.

Its mission, its ethos, is that people should tell their friends and family what they’re up to. If what they are up to is making videos of cats doing funny things, Facebook doesn’t care if the videos were staged. And if what they’re up to is sharing anti-Semitic memes and fake news, then … I mean … what?

Facebook’s DNA is in the sharing business, not the truth business, and its thinking about how to deal with the truth and harm of what it shares is inchoate and muddled.

It is not far off the truth that both of these companies optimize their content for popularity and profit rather than truth. Behind the scenes, Facebook has been studying and analyzing its effect on news consumption.

They are as old as for-profit media. In general these companies start with an ethic of truth-seeking and fairness that then may or may not be compromised by the quest for clicks and shares.

Where does all of this leave modern-day democracy.

With the unwinding of economic linkages the planet’s wealthiest and most powerful countries face a slow-moving but potentially devastating political and economic crisis.

If we all stay silent when men brag about sexually assaulting women. If we accept lies and hate speech about women, or migrant, refugee and Muslim communities.

If we stop pushing to prevent catastrophic climate change.

“All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.” It’s easy to lose something you don’t even know you had.Afficher l'image d'origine

Mr Obama would do well during the transition of power to bring the President elect to see the Statue of Liberty “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

The liberty she promises is not slavery to world’s system of Facebook, Twitter or the Internet of everything.

It is so that humanity as a whole can muster the courage to seek the truth.

This can only be achieved by the simply use paper ballots not The Electoral College. Not computerized voting machines.

The problem with algorithm systems is that one can’t guarantee that the software is doing what it is supposed to do. (see previous posts)

It is time we pulled aside the cloak, and take a good look at the real facts, and what they mean for us, today.

The United States electoral system remains a work in progress, as it has for more than 230 years. Surely it time to remove the power of the $ and save the rest of us from eighteen months of bickering.

THE BEADY EYE LOOKS AT USA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

( A thought)

It may not seem like it should cost so much to stand on a stage and tell people why they should vote for you.Afficher l'image d'origine

Just how much?

The answer comes with an elephant-size asterisk in the USA.

In 2012 the presidential election cost $2 billion, and this year’s election is expected to reach $5 billion!

Trump himself says his net worth varies from day-to-day according to what mood he’s in.

To outsiders, the US presidential election contest must look rude, vulgar, overcrowded, angry, stupid, and dangerous. The race for the White House can appear a ridiculous spectacle to the casual observer.

In an age when knowledge is a mark of elitism, ignorance is power personified by Trump.

He’s under the illusion that he’s 10 times richer than he is, believes President Obama was born in Brobdingnag to the Queen of Sheba and thinks childhood vaccination caused the movie Rain Man. Russia, China, Iran, Isis, the Taliban and Hamas will be paralysed with fear.

Who knows what this lunatic will do?

Thus, so far, Trump is the best America can do against his rival Hillary Clinton, who claimed she and her quarter-of-a-million-dollars-a-speech husband were “dead broke” when they left the White House.

Hillary carries more baggage than the Boeing.

After a seemingly endless parade of campaign announcements and abandonments, debates and stump speeches – not to forget weekly controversies born from the mouth of Donald Trump – the 2016 presidential election is finally upon us.

On the 8th November.  Finally, on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, well over a hundred million Americans will go to the polls to elect the next president of the United States.

One of the world’s biggest un-popularity contests.

To be sure, voters’ opinions could change over the next several months but the world is watching one of the biggest farce ever. But what does it all signify?

So why is capitalism and its proponents not taking a victory lap? And why in the European Union are nativist, xenophobic and racist forces on the rise, as most visibly manifested with the Brexit vote? And why is the far right and far left in ascendancy in so many countries?

Trump was formally crowned as the presidential candidate for the Republican Party, a position he won by deriding the political and economic establishments for caring not a whit about average Americans, and by mocking and showing no fealty to his own party’s nomenklatura.

it’s because of the paralysis of the corporate state, ie. the inability of the corporate state to respond rationally to the problems facing the citizenry that you vomit up a figure like Trump. But Trump is not the phenomena; Trump responds to the phenomena

Now there is growing concern America is turning into an oligarchy – and democracy is disappearing as a consequence. “There is no democracy, it’s bought and sold,”

American like Europe Union has generated an enormous divide between the haves and have-nots. For the 1 per cent, corporate sector, banks, hedge funds and brokerage houses, the empire is working just fine.

“Like in Rome it’s going to be ungovernable for the next 75 years.” And that’s because the domestic population is growing restless and angry with their increasingly desperate economic lot.

This anger and frustration at the grassroots propelled Trump to his current candidacy for president, who has focused the rage at minorities, women and Muslims.

Hillary Clinton will almost assuredly take over as president.

So you put Clinton in power and you know you may get rid of Trump as a particular figure but you’re not going to get rid of that phenomena. You will certainly see another Trump-like demagogue rise up as this legitimate anger ripples through society. I don’t think either Trump or Clinton have any interest or any capacity to fundamentally alter the system.”

“Democracy,” in America is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

No matter as the All-Seeing Eye on the back of the one dollar bill will still be the winner.
