(Ten-minute read)

This post is not written as a prophecy of gloom and doom, the goal is to think about the potential positive and negative applications of what we’re building with VR and nudge it just a little bit towards the positive.

It has the potential to revolutionize the way people live and interact with each other and it has the power to create deep and intense emotional experiences.

Like many other technologies, the future of VR depends strongly on how both the hardware and software evolve but this technology will definitely rewrite the rules for many industries.

As it is in its initial stages it has many drawbacks so it requires an extra level of thought into the potential outcomes of what we are making.

Unfortunately, as we are learning from the internet is that if a technology can be used for something, it will be.

Just as mobile has come to touch virtually every aspect of our lives over the past decade, expect virtual and augmented reality to do the same.

As with the internet, VR data will be captured, bought, and sold.

By its very nature, it could have a unique hold over us because it can draw us into any world and show us any scene and the worst predictions coming to life.

A common mistake most people make when thinking about this technology is that, because it is highly dependent on virtuality, it should not consider the user. On the contrary, only the virtual tools that consider the User Experience will be able to succeed.

It will be incorporated into everything from education, military training, and research to criminal justice, and even therapy.

TAKE FOR EXAMPLE.

The gambling Industry.

IF ONE WAS TO FEED A MACHINE LEARNING ALGORITHM EVERY HORSE RACE THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE COULD IT NOT COMPARE ALL THE WINNERS AND PREDICT WHAT HORSE IS LIKELY TO WIN IN ANY RACE.

                                      ————————-

For most people, VR technology is directly related to the gaming industry.

However, the scope of VR has transcended the gaming industry into new frontiers, the most important ones being in education and the medical field.

This comes as no surprise, because, as a result of new development tools, both users and developers have been willing to experiment more with devices, software, and how they can be used.

We can expect many practical VR applications that will help doctors treat patients remotely such as telemedicine.

It is hard to imagine the future of retail without thinking about Augmented Reality and the other types of VR. There are ever-growing opportunities for retailers to experiment with new ways to reimagine customer journeys.

As remote work takes all over the world, new communication tools will become crucial in helping workers collaborate in ingenious and more productive ways because it has the ability to present to our senses, so you feel like you’re actually there.

There is a downside to VR.

It could mean that a person is no longer as affected by extreme acts of behavior, like violence. They may fail to show appropriate empathy or compassion. Some experts even claim that in some situations a desensitized user may actively seek out violent scenarios for a sense of power and for the adrenaline rush.

These people will begin to blur the boundaries between real, augmented, and virtual reality. Their real-world life may suffer as a result.

PHOTO: Kyle Rittenhouse, center, with cap on backwards, walks along Sheridan Road in Kenosha, Wis., Aug. 25, 2020, with another armed civilian.

A recent example is a young man named Kyle Rittenhouse, a minor carrying, an assault rifle while roaming the streets of Kenosha with other armed men, acting as a self-described militia during protests in August 2020.

He was cleared of killing two people and wounding another in self-defense.

It is highly probable that his actions were influenced by the Gaming World of VR.

In this augmented world he neglected his real-world surroundings and responsibilities.

                                      ———————–

The best we can do for now is realize the immense power that technology and media have over our stories.

The debates will range from artistic liberty to acceptable business practices to the factors that make an experience valuable.

It’s something that VR developers, storytellers, investors, and consumers will have to answer together.

All human comments are appreciated. All lie clicks and abuse chucked in the bin.

(Twenty-minute read)

NOT BY A LONG SHOT.

When you hear the word slavery, it conjures images of shackles, mistreated people of color, forced to work.

This image was once a true, vivid picture;

However, the term slavery has broadened, and now slavery comes with many more definitions creating a new image for the vile term slavery.

THERE IS A NEW, MODERN, INVISIBLE SLAVERY THAT ENSLAVES PEOPLE AND THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW IT ! !! AND MOST OF US CHOSE THIS FORM OF SLAVERY.

This new strain is much more virulent and deadly adding hundreds of thousands of new slaves to the mix every minute of the day  – Algorithms Slavery. A hidden world programming its self.

Slaves are cheap these days.

There are an estimated as high as 45.8 million people in modern slavery around the world. More than in the 18th century at the height of the transatlantic slave trade.

Simply knowing the statistic that 45.8 million individuals are enslaved in our world is not enough to put an end to the malpractice of modern-day slavery.

We all can and should play a part in the international advocacy for the freedom and rights of all, not only as fellow human beings but also as concerned community leaders and consumers in the global economy.

They’re the step-by-step instructions working quietly behind the scenes of everyday life; in internet search engines, satnavs, air traffic control, and food delivery services.

Companies and governments increasingly rely upon algorithms to make decisions that affect people’s lives and livelihoods – from loan approvals to recruiting, legal sentencing, and college admissions – from internet search results to product recommendations, dating matches, and what content goes up on our social media feeds.

Slavery today includes:

10 million children.

24.9 million people in forced labor.

15.4 million people in forced marriage.

4.8 million people in forced sexual exploitation.

Human trafficking and slavery are the fastest-growing illegal activities in the world today.

Keep the National Human Trafficking Resource Center’s 24/7 confidential hotline handy.

Saving this number in your contacts and using it whenever suspicious of having seen a victim of human trafficking is one of the easiest and most effective ways to aid law enforcement officials in uncovering exploitation, bringing traffickers to justice, and victims to freedom and restoration.

                                                ——————

Algorithms have been rising fast and saturating our modern world.

We should not take the path of least resistance by sitting in judgment on the past while ignoring the injustices of our day.

Most algorithms in the world today are created and managed by for-profit companies, and many businesses regard their algorithms as highly valuable forms of intellectual property that must remain in a “black box.”

Every time a site is opened we are confronted with an Agreement Templates a choice to Agree or not.  Many websites prompt you to agree to their terms of use before you can register on the website or even use it.

There are two different types of website agreements: browsewrap and clickwrap.

A browsewrap agreement is connected to the main page of the product by a hyperlink. The hyperlink leads to another webpage that will have the terms and conditions of the agreement detailed.

A clickwrap agreement is designed to ensure that the user has a chance to see the terms of use and they must also actively agree to the terms in order to agree. (This one is more legally binding.)

But are not transparent as they do not reveal the source code, inputs, and outputs of the algorithm that is running the site.

Without this transparency, the question is how can they be legally binding.

Specifically, machine learning algorithms – and deep learning algorithms in particular – are usually built on just a few hundred lines of code. The algorithm’s logic is mostly learned from training data and is rarely reflected in its source code. Which is to say, some of today’s best-performing algorithms are often the most opaque.

This is the new form of slavery.  Now being promoted by track and trace, with the current Coivid pandemic digital certifications that no one knows how or who will control, the data that they are now producing and in the future.

It suggests that technical transparency – must become law.

Essentially such laws would mandate that users be able to demand the data behind the algorithmic decisions made for them, including in recommendation systems, credit, and insurance risk systems, advertising programs, and social networks.

In doing so, it tackles “intentional concealment” by corporations.

But it doesn’t address the technical challenges associated with transparency in modern algorithms. Here, a movement called explainable AI (xAI) might be helpful.

However, this approach merely shifts the burden of belief from the algorithm itself to the regulators.

In the world of data analytics, it’s frequently assumed that more data is better.

But I firmly believe that the resistance to getting vaccinated is founded on this dilemma of trust.

Risk management, data itself is often a source of liability. That’s beginning to hold true for artificial intelligence as well.

THE BEADY ASKS. WHAT ARE THE TRUE ROOTS OF RACISIM.

Racism., The Future of Mankind

(Twelve-minute read)

This subject remains somewhat taboo so before I start I wish to state that I am of white skin and that it’s evident to me that a person can’t have racist attitudes unless he or she believes that there are such things as races.

Having traveled most of Africa and a great portion of the rest of our world I don’t believe in a race but in humanity as a whole.

Sadly, within humanity, racism has been a plague since the record began and prevails to the present day.

Yet the root cause and origin of racism is in fact not human, and hence leads to inhumanity – “a denial of the right of existence of entire human groups.

Armenian Genocide,  Bosnia, Cambodia, and Rwanda, The European colonization of the Americas, Tribes such as the Yahi were hunted to extinction. The liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971, The Darfur Genocide, The Yazidi in Iraq by ISIS. The Rohingya in Myanmar. The Uyghurs in China not to mention The Holocaust.

So, to have any understand racism, you need to understand the concept of race.

The phenomenon of racism is like standing in front of a mirror seeing your mirror image as the only acceptable image.

                               ————————————-

The vernacular meaning of “race” is quite different from its biological meaning.

In the vernacular, when one person describes another as being a member of a certain race, they are not pretending to be making a claim about that person’s genetic make-up.

We are inclined to conceive of races as populations that are defined by the possession of a shared essence that all and only members of the population share.

Of course, this is all baseless.

The present-day biological notion of race has nothing to do with the past’s so-called “scientific” racism.

The idea that members of the same race resemble one another is prevalent and intuitively compelling. The only problem with it is that it’s dead wrong.

Members of the same race resemble one another in more ways than members of different races do.

But this doesn’t work either.

If we are serious about combatting racism we should not be celebrating racial diversity.

Instead, we should be concentrating our efforts on undermining the very idea of race.

If we considered only very few traits—primarily skin color overall visual similarity is the basis for assigning people to racial categories. One has to ask oneself as to whether democracy, the rule of law, and human rights can ever properly take root till racism disappears, which still casts a shadow over society.

Recent debates about slavery in Britain and the United States have understandably focused on the toxic legacies those systems bequeathed to the black peoples of the Caribbean and the US, the descendants of the slaves.

One could say that both Britain and the USA of today were foundered on slavery and colonialism.

Britain as a nation is built in no small part, on slavery and colonialism, it has long infected their culture and institutions.

Since politics emerges from these cultures, racism is embedded in their institutions and involves distributing resources and power, it could never be immune.

Will this crucial bring about a post-imperial day of reckoning?

Not likely.

In 1968, Enoch Powell warned there would be “rivers of blood” if non-white immigration were not halted. In 1978, Margaret Thatcher referred to Britain as being “swamped by people with a different culture” – a phrase repeated by David Blunkett in 2002 in reference to asylum seekers’ children in schools.

In 2009, the British National Party won two seats in the European parliament.

In 2014, Nigel Farage, then the leader of Ukip, said: “the basic principle” of Powell’s rivers of blood speech was “correct”: His party topped the poll in the European elections later that year.

The current prime minister has refused to apologize for referring to black people as “piccaninnies” with “watermelon smiles” and Muslim women as letterboxes.

It’s difficult to see what meaningful conversation you can have about racism in British politics that does not involve the Windrush scandal.

Racism is a systemic form of discrimination in the foundations of the country, not a cricket club with its centuries-old legacy, that shapes lived experience today in England today.

As such, it cannot be weaponized because it is already a weapon.

As well as denying people employment, housing, education, equality, human rights, safety, and opportunity, it in both countries can literally kill.

Racism can, however, be deployed in many ways.

It may galvanize, distract, deflect, distort, scapegoat, and marginalize. It is an incredibly effective tool for dividing people and giving a sense of superiority to those to whom you have nothing material to offer.

Does it mean that nothing can be done about it?

The racism that exists in politics can only be eradicated through politics and education.

England’s post-imperial self-reckoning feels harsher, largely because it has been postponed for so long, and the memories of power and glory are so ineradicable.

In the U.S. The Constitution is where institutional racism was encoded from its origins.

There is no such thing as an ‘illegal’ asylum seeker.

Racism is always reversible — march toward equality.

THE BEADY EYE ASKS. WHAT WILL THE NEXT CLIMATE CONFERENCE ACHIVE?

(Three-minute read)

IF ANYTHING THE FAILURE OF THE LAST MEETING.

Cop 26 was at best a very human flawed attempt to deal with a problem of our own making.

The final pledges on the table are not in line with the goal of the Paris Agreement to hold the rise in warming to well below 2 Celsius degrees, and to pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5 Celsius degrees.

Why?

Because:

All Things Considered, it had little to offer on the hope front.

The conference was not about climate change but greenwashing on behalf of the conference sponsors.

The concept of loss and damage, where rich countries pay poorer nations for the destruction already caused by climate change, remains an idea rather than a reality in the document.

Because the conference treated indigenous groups as helpless victims.

If any of us is to continue, we will have to learn from those closest to the land and the sea what it is we really want, as opposed to what the jolly global greenwashing festival is trying to sell us.

We all — governments, financial institutions, individuals, and companies — now need to change and step up to address this challenge. As countries transition to green energy, a deadly race for global power begins.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been selected to host the COP28 international climate conference in 2023.

It will be the third time the talks are hosted by a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. Former OPEC member Qatar hosted in 2012 and Indonesia did in 2007. The hypoxia of it all is beyond belief.

Crude Oil Production in the United Arab Emirates increased to 2833 BBL/D/1K in October from 2786 BBL/D/1K in September of 2021. Dubai alone was built on the back of an oil and real-estate boom.

Long live the sponsors.

COP26/G20 ARE NOW BOTH PERFECT MODELS OF OUR COLLECTIVE FAILURE TO BUILD INSTITUTIONS CAPABLE OF COPING WITH, DEEP LONG-TERM. EXISTENTIAL PROBLEMS CAN NOT BE SOLVED BY EITHER GOING TO WAR OR RELYING ON FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES.

Now we find that the entire globe is trapped in the gruesome logic of Capitalism.

It’s perfectly OK for rich countries to continue doing something that is destroying the planet as long as the profit reaped will allow them to insulate themselves from the consequences.

We, that is all of us homo sapiens rose above the lesser animals thanks to our ability to wield logic and reason, yet we have managed to get ourselves to a place where the knowledge of what is driving all of the wildfires, floods, droughts, and disasters is not enough to enable us to do anything meaningful to stop it.

Of course, we need a price on carbon. Of course, we need extremely strict emissions regulations, massive green energy investments, and a maniacal focus on sustainability fierce enough to radically change a society that is built to promote unlimited consumption.

Capitalism is a machine made to squeeze every last cent out of this planet until there is nothing left.

We can either fool ourselves about that until it kills us, or we can change it.

The Earth's Atmosphere.

(Five-minute read)

We are born, walk, sleep, live and die under the Earth’s atmosphere, but most of us have no idea as to what it is.

The atmosphere upon which life depends was created by life itself.

Without it, we would be living on a lifeless husk.

The atmosphere is everything above the Earth’s surface, reaching straight upwards roughly 10,000 km (6,214 miles) into space.

Everything beyond this distance is considered to be outer space.

The bulk of the atmosphere is placed close to Earth’s surface up to a distance of roughly eight to 15 kilometers.

It has five different layers,

The Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere, Exosphere.

There is no definite boundary between the atmosphere and space.

The troposphere is the layer closest to Earth’s surface, which is around 7 to 20 km thick and comprises half of Earth’s atmosphere. 90% of the Ozone layer is here the protective shield against radiation. This is the layer that returning capsules glow as the capsules are heated in a superheated shroud of incandescent plasma.

The stratosphere is the second layer within the layers of the atmosphere. It starts surpassing the troposphere and ends about 31 miles over the ground.

The mesosphere begins at 31 miles and extends to about 53 miles high.

The thermosphere is known to be the second-highest layer of the atmosphere which extends from 56 miles to between 310 and 620 miles.

The exosphere is known to be the highest layer of the atmosphere, which is extremely thin. It is where the atmosphere joins forces with outer space. The exosphere contains many of the satellites orbiting Earth.

Earth’s atmosphere consists of about 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.03% carbon dioxide, and 0.9% argon with tiny percentages of other elements. Our atmosphere is also comprised of water vapor. Besides, Earth’s atmosphere comprises the remnants of dust particles, pollen, plant grains, and other solid particles.

Fortunately for us, Earth’s gravity is strong enough to hold onto its atmosphere.

The earth-atmosphere energy balance is the balance between incoming energy from the Sun and outgoing energy from the Earth.

Because we are increasing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere by continuing to burn fossil fuels, even in relatively small amounts compared to the entire mass of the atmosphere, we are disturbing the entire heat balance of the planet.

We add carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone along with the filtered air which comprises trace amounts of many other chemical compounds.

ITS NO WONDER THAT predicting the consequences of global warming is one of the most difficult tasks for the world’s climate researchers.

It is also difficult to predict the size of the emissions of greenhouse gases in the coming decades as this can be influenced by political decisions and technological advancements.

It is not difficult to predict the results of a temperature increase. ( See the previous post)

That Are Happening Right Now.

Sadly, most people don’t even realize what is happening, and that is because

the mainstream media only emphasizes stories that fit with the particular

narratives that they are currently pushing.

The demands of life can often cause us to focus on things that don’t really matter.  Hopefully, we can get more people to wake up while there is still time because the clock is ticking for humanity and for our planet as a whole.

THE BEADT EYE SAYS. WHAT DID THE BEADY EYE TELL YOU? COP26 WOULD TURN OUT TO BE A COP OUT.

(Three-minute read)

WOW!

AFTER TWO WEEKS OF NEGOTIATION WE HAVE MANAGED TO PRODUCE A HAPHAZARD APPROACH TO CLIMATE CHANGE.

It should’ve been our moment for climate action — but

wealthy nations’ leaders failed to deliver meaningfully

climate action.

The headline is that leaders from the countries that created and worsened climate change have failed — squandering the opportunity to take the truly transformational actions that this crisis demands.

SO WHAT NOW?

We are going to reconvene in Egypt in 2022.

When the fact will still remain that we are still far off the 1.5C target, and we will still need on-time and effective policies and legislation to make the existing but insufficient pledges a reality.

Pledges from COP26 put us on track for global warming of between 1.8C and 2.4C.

( If you want to see what a 2.4c temperature will look like see the previous post)

As Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley said as the conference began: “How many more voices and how many more pictures of people must we see on these screens without being able to move, or are we so blinded and hardened that we can no longer appreciate the cries of humanity?”

“Can there be peace and prosperity if one-third of the world literally prospers and the other two things of the world live under siege and face calamitous threats to our well-being?”

The climate crisis threatens the lives and livelihoods of billions of people around the world and could unravel decades of gains made in the fight against poverty.

The announcements the private sector made at COP26 were predictable and can be broadly lumped into three buckets: the defiant, the greenwashing, and the genuinely positive.

what are they actually talking about? is profit.

It’s vital we understand what this means in reality.

Neither they nor our world leaders grasped that there is no negotiation with the climate and  Net-zero essentially means contributing nothing to global warming.

It is not carbon neutrality.

Although that term also refers to bringing the overall emissions level to nothing, it can commonly be achieved by offsetting the equivalent amount of carbon emissions reductions elsewhere. For example, a rich country could pay for its carbon budget to be offset by a developing country.

We cannot stop the climate crisis.

Establishing a long-term net-zero target is one thing. Properly funding it is quite another. It’s not just possible — it’s essential.

Cop26 should have translated into immediate action if it was to have any real meaning to the planet and us.

There might be strong evidence that parallel worlds probably exist, but to have a parallel world one must have a world in the first place.

THE BEADY EYE ASKS. DID DARK MATTER CREATE GRAVITY OR IS IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Dark Matter., Gravity.

(Fifteen-minute read)

This question has been asked before.

I am no scientist but as far as I am aware so far dark matter has never been observed directly—hence the name.

You can point at where it is, say how much is there, and even talk about what it’s doing, however, it is estimated that dark energy makes up approximately 68% of the universe.

As far as anyone can tell, it is incredibly non-interacting and according to mathematical models, it makes up three-quarters of all the matter in the universe.

If that is so, is it not logical to assume that gravity must have been present before the formation of matter as no matter whether it be dark or otherwise could form without some sort of paste to clump them together.

We know that dark matter is a repulsive force that does not interact with electromagnetic energy, that it does not absorb, reflect, or emit light, making it extremely hard to spot. However, it’s said to interact with light and visible matter only through gravity giving the universe its overall structure. solar system

Like Dark matter we can’t see, feel, or directly observe gravitational forces.

So we have two unobservable forces.

One is called gravity made of quantum particles, called gravitons which need an atmosphere and air to exist.  The other is a hypothetical form of matter not containing baryons—that is, without protons or neutrons.

Obviously, there is a very close relationship between the contributions of dark matter and those of ordinary matter, as predicted in Verlinde’s theory of emergent gravity and an alternative model called Modified Newtonian Dynamics.

But if matter gives rise to gravity, then the standard model is wrong.

(According to the standard model, gravity existed before matter did and if that’s the case, where did the gravity come from with no matter to initiate its presence?)

Perhaps we are wrong about how gravity works?

                                      ————————–

Both gravity and all matter are intertwined, interacting with each other with their forces diminishing the further away they are, eventually dissolving into dark matter that has no force till it meets gravity once more.

Why?

Because dark matter doesn’t interact with itself it is bound to our world only by gravity and tugs on other things that also possess gravity.

Gravity is a force pulling together all matter (which is anything you can physically touch)

I believe that Gravity and Matter are the same things, so why do we give them different names?

                            ——————————–

All human beings are born on Earth, an environment perpetually under the influence of gravity.

A man wasn’t born with the biological ability to defy gravity.

Gravity is the weakest of the fundamental forces in Physics but has the greatest effect.

Take away gravity for an extended period, and that mechanical strain on the body goes away. As a result, the body forms fewer osteoblasts (bone-building cells), leading to a loss of bone mass and greater susceptibility to fractures.astronaut drifting in outer space

Astronauts in orbit around the earth are not experiencing “no gravity”. They are experiencing almost all of earth’s gravity, but with nothing to stop them.

The body’s development is greatly affected by gravity’s constant downward pull. That means it’s under constant stress, and our muscles and bones develop specifically to withstand that stress.

The amount of effort your heart exerts takes gravitational force into consideration.

Gravity has a strong connection to sleep patterns and the quality of sleep a person gets.

Gravity is measured by the acceleration that it gives to freely falling objects.

The word “gravity” is used historically to mean any acceleration and not just gravity.

We know that starlight from far away galaxies are bent by gravity on their way to our telescopes. But the distribution of gravity is not unformed throughout the universe, as it is the weight of what is on the dark matter that dictates its strength.

Without a doubt, all of these effects are caused by gravity, but the question is: are we genuinely observing additional gravity, caused by invisible matter, or are the laws of gravity themselves the thing that we haven’t fully understood yet?

If we find there is no dark matter might gravity only exist?

———————-Animation of apple falliing from tree

So is gravity actually created by dark matter or is it the other way around?

Perhaps what we perceive as dark matter is really just the gravitation from matter in another nearby universe.

We know that it is not a form of matter and we have a gravitational equation that says that the force of gravity is proportional to the product of the two masses (m1 and m2), and inversely proportional to the square of the distance (r) between their centers of mass.  Mathematically speaking, F=Gm1m2 / r2

Nature defines zero-gravity as “a state of weightlessness.

We know that it is the Sun’s gravity that keeps the Earth in its orbit! and the Moon’s gravity is responsible for the ocean tides on Earth.

It’s the glue that keeps the Earth’s layers – the inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust — intact as it rotates on its axis and revolves around the Sun.gamma-ray bursts

We know that gravity from a black hole bends light rays.

But black holes are really just the evolutionary endpoints of massive stars they don’t have any surface or atmosphere to create a gravitational pull so their center of gravity must be outside or another mass or at the exit of the hole that produces dark matter.

Black holes are among the oddest objects believed to populate the universe a million to a billion times the mass of the sun.

We know that it’s the force that is critical for life on Earth to continue.

We know that without an atmosphere, there is no gravity, and if it disappeared, so will the Moon and all of us.

But we don’t really know what it is other than it is a force whose effects extend from each object out into space in all directions, and for an infinite distance that never goes completely away.

No science says that gravity control is impossible.

Artificial gravity can be created using a centripetal force. Because an electromagnetic field contains energy, momentum, and so on, magnets will produce a gravitational field of their own.

Gases such as Co2 and methane *are* held close to the surface of the earth because of gravity.

The only way to change the planet’s gravity would be to change the planet’s mass.

Galaxies with a different shape and history can have a different amount of ‘apparent dark matter.

THE BEADY EYE SAYS: COP26 WILL TURN OUT TO BE THE MOST EXPENSIVE COP OUT THAT THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN. .

≈ Comments Off on THE BEADY EYE SAYS: COP26 WILL TURN OUT TO BE THE MOST EXPENSIVE COP OUT THAT THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN. .

(Five-minute read)

1.5 apparently has not yet been reached and to many experts, the 1.5°C target appears to be out of reach.

Words, Pledges, Agreements, Strong Statements, and inductive thinking, will do nothing to stop Climate Change.

So as the planet perhaps inevitably closes in on and goes beyond that 1.5°C target, it’s reasonable to wonder how a world with “just” that degree of warming would compare with a world where global temperatures rise by 2°C or more above preindustrial levels.

(Keep in mind that there’s no science suggesting that the warming of the planet’s atmosphere will magically stop at that 2°C limits; indeed, just the opposite).

Every bit of warming matters.

About 14% of the world’s population would be exposed to extreme heat waves once every five years if global temperature increases are held to 1.5°C; that percentage jumps to 37% with a rise of 2°C.

  • With a 1.5°C increase, extremely hot days in the mid-latitudes will be 3°C hotter (5.4°F) than pre-industrial levels.
  •
  • With a 2°C increase, extremely hot days in the mid-latitudes will be about 4°C hotter (7.2°F) than pre-industrial levels.
  •
  • With a 1.5°C increase, sea levels are projected to rise by 2100 by 0.26 to 0.77 meters (0.85-2.52 feet) relative to 1986-2005.
  •
  • With a 2°C increase, sea levels are projected to rise by 2100 by 0.36 to 0.87 meters (1.18-2.85 feet) relative to 1986-2005.
  •
  •
  • With a 1.5°C increase, 6 percent of insects, 8 percent of plants, and 4 percent of vertebrates are projected by 2100 to lose more than half of their climatically determining geographic range.
  •
  • With a 2°C increase, those percentages double or triple: 18 percent of insects, 16 percent of plants, and 8 percent of vertebrates are projected by 2100 to lose more than half of their climatically determining geographic range.
  •
  • With a 1.5°C increase, scientists project that the Arctic Ocean will become ice-free in the summer about once every 100 years.
  •
  • With a 2°C increase, the Arctic Ocean could become ice-free in the summer once every 10 years.
  •
  • With a 1.5°C increase, coral reefs around the world are projected to decline further by 70-90 percent.
  •
  • With a 2°C increase, coral reefs are projected to decline by more than 99 percent — an irreversible loss in many marine and coastal ecosystems.
  •
  • With a 1.5°C increase, one global model cited by the U.N. report projects a decrease in the global annual catch for marine fisheries of about 1.5 million metric tonnes.
  •
  • With a 2°C increase, the same model projects a decrease of more than 3 million metric tonnes.

Compared with a rise of 2°C, limiting warming to 1.5°C could reduce the number of people worldwide exposed to climate-related risks and resulting poverty by hundreds of millions fewer people.

The notion that humans could override nature is absurd.

To limit warming to 1.5°C, global net greenhouse gas emissions from human activity must decline by about 45 percent from 2010 levels by 2030, and reach net zero by 2050. To limit warming to 2°C, emissions must decline by about 25 percent by 2030 and reach net zero by about 2070.

The money is only about one-third of the amount the IEA says is needed to put the world on track to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

It has been being clear that since 1978, global warming has become even more apparent.

Almost everything these days are presented to us in a way that’s supposed to get us to consume something.

Every result that shows up in Cop26 has been caused by certain actions that were taken in the past.  That means that we’re constantly living in the residue caused by our thoughts and actions in the past.

After 25 Cop summits have achieved zero as we have not yet discovered the laws that control any given circumstance to stop climate change.

The bottom line is that if you don’t like the effect of the actions that you’ve taken in the past, then alter your actions to create a better future.

Poverty and prosperity are opposite poles of the same thing. 1.5 and 2.4 are not.

THE BEADY EYE SAYS: COP26 IS YET TO GRASP THE NETTLE BY THE NECK.

06 Saturday Nov 2021

≈ Comments Off on THE BEADY EYE SAYS: COP26 IS YET TO GRASP THE NETTLE BY THE NECK.

( Four-minute read)

To grasp the nettle Cop26 has to realize that there can be no compromises with the Climate.

This is not a negotiation with each other.  There is another unspoken negotiation going on too – called compromises which are fundamentally unambitious when it comes to Climate Change.

Reducing carbon emissions, improving the food supply and demand imbalance, and reducing water shortages: are the three biggest challenges that the world is currently facing.

At the current temperature rate, we have just 12 years to make a difference.

Public government finances are not enough to fund efforts to keep a global temperature rise below two degrees.

By 2030, by 2070, and by, by do not grasp that it is now we need to ensure your money is tied up ethically, sustainably, and responsibly so it will go a long way to alleviate the increasing effects of climate change, and the subsequent challenges it brings.

To meet growing demand, we need more food, resources, water, and energy and this increase in the use of resources presents global challenges that can not be met by public finances.

So the onus is on the financial sector to make strides for climate change, but most of the fund offerings within the sustainability or environmental space are mainly equity-only strategies.

This poses a significant challenge only in cost but in investment.

It is now that we need to invest in a green economic world that is brimming with prosperity – something that is only expected to rise in the future as the world moves towards a necessarily sustainable society.

Growth is the key reason for general investor interest in sustainability and environmental themes.

One only has to look at sovereign wealth funds investing more and more in the green economy.

Most end-markets in the sustainability space are expected to grow annually at double-digit rates over the next three to five years compared to low single-digit in most developed economies.

So why not now invest sustainably by issuing Green bonds with remuneration in order to provide a clear incentive to drive this change.

They will not just provide financial rewards, but environmental ones, too.

COP26 MIGHT BE THE MOST COMPLEX NEGOTIATION EVER ATTEMPTED.

Why?

Because humans are helplessly reciprocal creatures and without realizing it we mirror each other in what we say and how we say it.

Negotiations are rarely about the issue we’re talking about.

Try compromising with this lot.

The temperature rise has not been, and will not be, uniform or smooth across the country or over time.

Increased heavy precipitation events will continue.

Heat waves (periods of abnormally hot weather lasting days to weeks) everywhere are projected to become more intense.

Hurricane-associated storm intensity and rainfall rates are projected to increase as the climate continues to warm.

Sea level rise will continue past 2100 because the oceans take a very long time to respond to warmer conditions at the Earth’s surface.

The Arctic Ocean is expected to become essentially ice-free in summer before mid-century.

Global climate is projected to continue to change over this century and beyond.

The effects of human-caused global warming are happening now, are irreversible on the timescale of people alive today, and will worsen in the decades to come.

So we must figure out new ways of working together to create a sustainable world.
