HERE WE GO AGAIN.

CAN THERE BE ANY TRUST IN THE BRITISH (WHO HOSTED THE 26 CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE IN GLASGOW LAST YEAR.) advocating the phaseout of coal around the world while planning its expansion at home.dirty coal miner wear hardhat with a hammer drill - coal mine stock pictures, royalty-free photos & images

To watch a Conservative MP defended its decision by saying that it is good for the environment to stop importing and start exporting is beyond farcical and worthy of  historic accolades for stupidity beyond the call of duty.

Some one should tell him that no transport emissions will make up for emissions produced by mining the coal.

Woodhouse Colliery won’t be carbon neutral with its plans to extract 2.43 million tons of coking coal per year. That will produce 9 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalents, a measure of greenhouse emissions based on their global warming potential, per year.“

A few hundred precarious jobs in a dying industry would be worth it.

Indeed, framing the need for continued investment in fossil fuels as important for jobs and arguing that moving away from fossil fuels will hurt jobs and the economy is a classic talking point the fossil fuel industry has used for decades to thwart climate action.

To move ahead with plans to develop the country’s first deep coal mine in 30 years, despite warnings that doing so could destroy any chance of achieving the country’s climate change target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The Cumbria County Council, which approved the project, said it did so because it will create jobs in an area of high unemployment, will dig up coking coal, also known as metallurgic coal, from beneath the Irish Sea in order to make coke, a “form of almost pure carbon” that is used to make steel.

Opening a coalmine in the UK now is a serious mistake: economic, social, environmental, financial and political.

Economically, it is investing in the technologies of the last century, not this, and that is the wrong path to growth.

Socially, it is pursuing jobs in industries that are on the way out, creating future job insecurity.

Environmentally, it is adding to world supply and thus consumption of coal and releasing greenhouse gases, when there is an urgent need to reduce them.

It could even put at risk global progress on cutting greenhouse gas emissions because laggard countries will be able to point to the UK’s hypocrisy as an excuse for their own inaction.

And politically, it is undermining the UK’s authority on the most important global issue of our time.

Turning Britain into a “hypocritical” developed country interested only in the rhetoric  of I am all right Jack is sad.

The coalmine would increase emissions by about 400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, or the equivalent of 200,000 cars on the road.

God save the Planet.

Capitalism vs. the Climate., Climate change, The Future of Mankind

(FOUR MINUTE READ)

I recently came across this app that sums up where we are with – CLIMATE CHANGE.

Let’s calculate your Carbon Footprint. Climate Hero.  Pay x to offset your climate foot print.

God knows how many meeting we now have had of world leaders when it comes to Climate Change. From the UN to the Gs’ and Climate Summits, and it still remains beyond their comprehension that to reduce Carbon Emissions we must put a halt to producing energy with fossil and gas resources.

Instead:

We have are unenforceable Promises,  Declarations,  Proposals Agreement,  Accords, Groups and Organisations under ever letter of the alphabet turning a blind eye to the raw fact that carbon has being turned into a product to be traded.

This is a trading system through which countries / corporations can buy or sell units of greenhouse-gas emissions in an effort to  either meet their national limits on emissions or off set their emission’s  while they continue will – nilly to pump carbon into the atmosphere.

. The Kyoto Protocol assigned a unit of emissions payment to equal to 1 metric tonne of CO2 equivalent.

This TRADING comes with labels like Carbon Free, Net Zero, Offset, Mitigation

All ways of  (COP) out of  doing any think.

Like REDD:  Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation with Cop 27introduced Sovereign Carbon Credits paving the way for private trading and financing of nature.

You dont have to be a genius to understand that temperature rise is only the beginning of the story.

The consequences of climate change now include, among others, intense droughts, water scarcity, severe fires, rising sea levels, flooding, melting polar ice, catastrophic storms and declining biodiversity, mass migration by both animals and humans  that will eventually led to more wars.  Because the Earth is a system, where everything is connected, changes in one area can influence changes in all others.

There is no doubt that  Climate action requires significant financial investments by governments and businesses. But climate inaction is vastly more expensive.

So instead of worthless invisible funds why not give non repayable grants to every house hold to install solar panels.

To get to net zero emissions by 2050 it is not by giving Earth Shot millions to projects that deserve recognition in their innovative  to tackle Climate Change but to arm the peoples of the world to do something positive by converting to Green energy,  starting now.

Why not because the capitalist system is still between two stool profit for profit sake or profit for sustainability.

Progress is a metaphor

For benefitting man;

We know exactly what it’s for

But wonder if it can.

The next best thing to knowing a fact is said to be where to find it;

But more than that, its how to act, once you have truly defined it.

SO WE ALL KNOW THAT it is critical that all mitigation and adaptation policy are underpinned by not burning fossil fuels that are generating greenhouse gas emissions and methane even it there are offset by paying a few dollars more for your Flight or breathing.

Of course one would be naïve to think that Government’s who’s revenue comes from the use of energy are going to cut themselves off from this revenue by converting the production of energy to free for all. The primary source of revenue is taxation.

THIS IS WHERE THE  PANDORA  BOX.OPENS.

The problem is that these renewable sources aren’t super reliable and at present there is no way of storing the energy other than directing it into the Grid or private batteries that need to be attached to the grid.

There is no problem (in principle) with building enough solar panel arrays, wind farms, tidal, wave and geothermal energy plants to power our planet. There is nothing here that we don’t already know how to do. The only problem is with funding it and getting people to accept it.

We at the moment except.

Nuclear power plants: Highly stable and reliable. They are “dirty” because of the nuclear waste hype. There is also problem with uranium mining and processing as well.

Coal power plants: Operable and reliable. Their huge footsteps are mining processes, CO2 emissions, NOx, SOx, dust pollution, heavy metal pollution…

Gas/oil powerplants: Operable, reliable. Their drawbacks are mining process, CO2 emissions and political compromises.

Biomass powerplants: Low scale source. Extremely low power density (MW output per km2 needed for supply).

Water powerplants: very fast, reliable. Their drawbacks are huge or humongous dams for high-power ones or low power output; disruption of the stream.

Wind turbines: Power-grid disruptor #1, unpredictable source. Unrecyclable blades. High risk in bad weather (too windy)

Solar heat powerplants: Huge area consumption for mirror fields plus tower in the sky. Suitable only for scarcely populated areas.

Photovoltaics: Power-grid disruptor #2 (only because it does not disrupt after sunset). Unpredictable power source. Extremely low power density (MW per km2 of ground consumed). Extremely toxic production. Unrecyclable.

HOWEVER ITS NAIVE TO THINK THAT WE CAN HAVE GREEN ENGERY TOTAL FREE OF EMMISIONS.

Where are we?

World Climate Summits have become a key platform for connecting investment markets not policies to avert disaster.

With the last one in Egyptian promising trillions to countries that can claim Punch’s Pilot absolution that its not their fault.

07.11.2022_WCS_Logocloud.jpg

Energy is there and all we can do about it is change the forms. It is a direct follow of the conservation of energy.

There is no thermal engine that produces more (mechanical) energy than it consumes. Even solar and wind need raw materials.

Solar panel takes a little less than a decade to produce as much energy as was used to make it.

Anytime one is using energy, they are using it on the environment’s behalf.

IN A IDEAL WORLD WE COULD CONVERT tracts of unusable desert that has no significant ecological value and which gets uninterrupted sunshine for 300+ days of the year that could be covered in solar panels.

I have advocated that to tackle Climate change Governments must impower their people to do so.

Non Repayable grants to insulate their homes and install solar power would be a good start.

You have to start on time as nothing in the universe will produce more energy.

Artificial Intelligence., THE BIGGEST CHANGES IN THE LAST HUNDRES YEARS, The Future of Mankind

( Eight minutes read)

From the rise and fall of political ideologues the list is long as to how the world transformed in the last 100 years in terms of demography, environment, geography, geopolitics, resources, art of war and global affairs needs to be analysed in some detail.

Why?

Because the world has never witnessed changes as enormous as it experienced in the last 100 years. Never in human history has such a transformation, both in qualitative and quantitative terms, taken place in such a short span of time.

Over the last 100 years, the world has changed tremendously, however one can identify eight major changes that occurred during the last 100 years, which not only transformed the world from a European-centric to post-colonial globalised world, but also changed the map of the world with the emergence of new states in Africa and Asia.

So what are these changes?

First, from 1.8 billion people in 1919, world population has swelled to 8 billion.

Second, while there were only 50 sovereign states in 1919, today there are 193 members of the UN.

Third, the widening of the technological and economic gap between the global North and South increased the level of unemployment.

Fourth, radical changes in the art of war as a result of the modernisation of weapons.

Fifth, because of modernisation and industrialisation, the state of infrastructure, financial institutions, factories and industries in 2022 is far superior to that in 1919.

Sixth, one can see a link between globalisation, information technology, geo-economics and ‘soft power’, as new types of power and catalysts of change.

Seventh, the greatest disaster to befall mankind and the most important event in the history of the western world had absolutely nothing to do with technology. 16 million people were killed during World War I, in World War II, 50 million people perished, out of which 20 million were killed in the then Soviet Union.

Eighth,  Scientists are starting to understand the world. And we are making strides in AI, robotics, sensors, networks, synthetic biology, materials science, space exploration and more every day.

The reality is that our lives have completely changed.

But is it for the better, or worse?

With the 20th century nearing an end, which shift’s have really shaped the modern world?

Is it the Microchip, the Smartphone, the Internet, Climate Change, or the recent Covid Pandemic that not only killed people, it changed the ways people lived, as well as their expectations of death.

Or

Was it?   Wars,  Transportation  Communications, Telephones, Television, Immigration, Education, Government tax collections,  Countries budget deficit,  Literacy, Super Market, Billionaires, Inequality, Slavery, and the Stock market all took off that had the biggest influences.

I venture that it is none of these. It is the technological changes that is changing the world in the form of ALGORITHMS.

If you think about it, society is in a very bad place. People rely on their phones, laptops and tablets for everything. Technology is a great thing, but most people have abused it. Are you letting technology take control of your life?

With limited resources on a limited planet, this is not a shift that is likely ever to change. In a thousand years or so, if society continues that long, the 20th century may well be viewed as the threshold when the modern world began – when humanity started to consider the future as well as the present and the past.

Technology hugely changed the ways in which we lived and died in the 20th century, however, it also masks changes that are arguably even more profound –  they are Machine Learning Algorithms that give computers the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed. The process of learning is simply, learning automatically with no human intervention from experience or observations and to adjust their perform actions accordingly. Machine learning algorithms are now involved in more and more aspects of everyday life from what one can read and watch, to how one can shop, to who one can meet and how one can travel.

There is a fascinating trend happening where ready to use machine learning algorithms for speech recognition, language translation, text classifications, and many other tasks are now being offered as web-based services on cloud computing platforms, significantly increasing the audience of developers that can use them and making it easier than ever to put together solutions that apply machine learning at a high level.

In general, machine learning algorithms are categorized into two main types. The first type is known as supervised learning, in which our goal is to predict some output variable that’s associated with each input item. Supervised learning needs to have a training set with labelled objects to make its predictions.

The second major class of machine learning algorithms is called unsupervised learning, in which input data don’t have any labels to go with the data. Unsupervised learning allows us to approach problems with little or no idea about the final result.

These algorithms rapidly process huge datasets and give helpful insights into knowledge that permits awesome healthcare services.

Some deep learning applications are in natural language processing, video processing, recommendation systems, disease prediction, drug discovery, speech recognition, web content filtering, etc.

As the scope for learning algorithms evolves, the applications for deep learning grows drastically.

Try to remember what life was like before you were attached to technology by the hip to Big Data that supports the nature of deep learning algorithms.  Impossible.

Machine learning algorithms employ probability theory and that is you’re probably reading this on your phone right now.

The average person will check their phone every six and a half minutes.

Out of technology there is one other development that is changing the world.

CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology, will enables us to reprogram life as we know it.

News and online newsfeeds are increasingly full of stories of what will happen, not what has happened.

While climate change will enhance the most important relationship in human history between mankind and the land, basically, the more land you have, the more natural resources you have but the day is fast approaching when humanity will be eventually be programmed out of us along with our connection the earth.

As is well known, money has existed for thousands of years. However, that doesn’t mean it has always served the same function as it does today.  Money to day is data.

To what extent the culture of NGOs can helped deal with critical issues faced by the world today is debatable.

Our world organisation all need to be revamped to reflect responsibility all over the world – and hope for the best.

( Six minute read)

ROBOTS V  HUMAN CANNOT BE VERBALIZED.

The concept of species is, of course, a human idea imposed upon the natural world, and up to recently we have been pretending that we are somehow separate from the rest of the planet.  (An upright-walking, big-brained species that eventually evolved into people: Homo sapiens, a species  that can breed with each other.)

Since the beginning of our existence, humans have explored and expanded globally, covering every inch of our planet and utilizing it somehow. Looking at this, we can see that human beings are a species of explorers whose acts of exploration are fuelled by their curiosity.

We often refer ourselves as humans as a way to establish social connections between each other and to ignore the various forms of physiological differences between us but we are alive to evolve as directed by the Human DNA Swarm Intelligence which designed, built, programmed, and maintains Humans… at least until we perfect genetic engineering to take over control of this, which is actually doing exactly what we have been programmed to evolve towards doing.

When you think of what the definition we’ve assigned the word Humanity, it entails many different aspects. Most of which we do not live up to, but under the drive of our Human RNA/DNA Swarm Intelligence, we are developing the knowledge to create intelligence better than individual Human Minds, through what we call Artificial Intelligence.

Man (without an article) itself refers to the species or to humanity (mankind) as a whole.

As yet Robots are not a species so humanity is probably just going to have to be kept as a convenience.

In a recent meditation, the Franciscan priest and author Richard Rohr wrote:

“Being human means acknowledging that we’re made from the earth and will return to the earth.”

Which word came first human or man?

Human was first recorded in the mid 13th century, and owes its existence to the Middle French humain “of or belonging to man.”

The word “human” is from the Latin humanus, the adjectival form of homo.

Latin terms such as homo (e.g. Homo Sapiens), come from an extinct, 6000-year-old language called Proto-Indo-European or P.I.E.

We know that we cannot be descended from only two humans, because we are simply far to diverse for every human characteristic to derive from only two ancestors.  Humans are also not pre-programmed at birth.

The theory of evolution, definitely isn’t part of the Adam and Eve story. (God’s Word (the Bible) has a very different perspective on where we came from. You see, God tells us in the Bible that he created humans (Adam and Eve).

Dinosaurs: appeared 225 million years ago, extinct 65 million years ago.
Humans that look like us: appeared 250,000 years ago.
Humans that act like us: appeared 50,000 years ago.

Human origin is extra-terrestrial.

We might have a sprinkling of star dust but it’s a rubbish hypothesis because human beings share 99% of their DNA with primates.

Although thoughts about migration into space are as old as science fiction there will never be a complete human capable of living on another planet in our universe.

Why?

Because technologies both in medicine and machines are programming humanity out of us.

The urgency to establish humanity as a multi-planet species has been re-validated by the emergence of a worldwide pandemic, one of several reasons including both natural and man-made catastrophes long espoused in the pro-colonization rhetoric.

For example we now have the first vaccination due to Covid that instructs our immune systems

Technologies such as controlled ecological life support systems are still not developed in a meaningful manner.

We have absolutely no data about the long-term effects of space environment on either our bodies or minds.

The ethical controversies that make this concept perhaps unsuitable for implementation at all.

Though humans in some form are capable of space colonization, does it give us the right to conquer other planets just like we conquered Earth? As more and more people will begin to settle on the planet, however, there will be a diversity of opinions in these colonies, thus calling for laws and regulations that can be inclusive to everybody while also maintaining peace. Laws that answer questions about who is in charge, what is or is not forbidden, making public decisions, etc., are crucial questions that should be answered.

Say we do come to the conclusion that colonizing Mars is beneficial to the human race, how is it going to be orchestrated in a social platform? How will it be decided who gets to be part of this colony? We could rank applications by suitability, prioritize diversity, leave it as a lottery draw, or simply allow the highest bidders to be the only participants. Each of these options raises its own issues, but they all are related to who is being left behind, who has to carry the cost of the expedition and who has to deal with the consequences. Whose ethics are we going to use?

THEY WONT BE RELIGIOUS.

But rest assured even with just one God humans will still find ways to fight and disagree with each other.

There is a strong argument to be made for traversing space as a species as opposed to as nations, but this will require us to have a universally accepted ethical code. We may need to create an obvious incentive for us all to accept the accomplishment so as not to allow us to separate and disperse as a species.

Should we only recognize those people who have advanced reasoning capabilities as fully human, which would exclude mentally disabled or mentally ill human beings from moral consideration?

If we end up colonizing Mars as singular entities it is hard not to imagine a future not fraught with conflict.

                                                      ——————————————-

Each language has its own name for our planet but they all have one thing in common each is derived from a word meaning ‘ground’ or ‘soil.’

Earth’s original name is long lost to history.

The modern popular terms for “Earth” come from Latin. Terra means land.

The modern English word ‘Earth’ derives from the Germanic ‘erde’, meaning ‘ground’.

Ertha is an approximate spelling for “the ground” (meaning, the ground upon which we stand) in Anglo-Saxon.

Ertha, mundus, was meant to describe the whole of the universe.

In science fiction, Earthling (also “Terran”, “Earther”, and “Gaian”) is frequently used, as it were naming humanity by its planet of origin.

None of these terms seem to describe the current state of humanity –  we definitely need to redefine it in order to get us as humans to realize how related and interconnected we all are to the planet and the ground we walk on.

Giving a new name to a species is always controversial.

With the technology, knowledge, and past mistakes that we have now, what are we going to do with it before the Earth fall’s apart.

THERE MUST BE CLEAR DISTINCION IS WE AND ROBOTICS ARE TO EXIST TOGETHER.

Here are a few suggestions.

Wanderers – Luxers  – “ Earthling a unifying word  so why not change from Humans to Eairthens”  this would combine us with our  future robot friends.

All human comments and suggestions appreciated. All like clicks and abuse chucked in the bin

THE BEADY EYE ASKS. HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT THE MEDIA IS FULL OF MORE AND MORE VIOLANCE?

The Future of Mankind, Violence, Visions of the future.

( Four minute read)

We all know that it is impossible to remove violence from the world, as we as a species along with all other species kill.

However too much of our impression of the world comes from a misleading formula of journalistic narration. Reporters give lavish coverage to gun bursts, explosions, and viral videos, oblivious to how representative they are and apparently innocent of the fact that many were contrived as journalist bait.

Beneath all this violence one of the biggest problems about disproportionate coverage of wanton violence is that many homicidal maniacs crave publicity. Doing something really awful remains a guaranteed method of achieving instant fame, or infamy (a distinction that often seems paper thin).

Violent headlines fill the news. If it bleeds, it leads is a truism of news coverage.

You hear of  a murder every day, your hear of mass shootings every day, you hear of war atrocities every day.

Whereas the world is a lot less violent today than at any other time of history, or prehistory, that fact escapes us thanks to our daily diet of journalistic carnage it is widely believed that modern society, in spite of all its technological and scientific progress, is morally deficient.

The question is why are audiences attracted to bloodshed, gore and violence?  Why do we keep coming back for more?

Because, violence is a huge entertainment venue not only today, but in the old days with gladiators.  We now have motion pictures and video games, whether played on computers etc or seen on television or in theatres, depict some of the most heinous fake violence ever.

The days of leaving the imagination to construct the result of violence act have long gone, and it seems without it many people have misconceptions as to how real violence works.

The amount of violence in movies has increased over the past few decades. About 90 percent of the top-grossing movies over a 25-year period contained at least one violent main character.

If you’re one of those people who squirm, twitch and squeal with fear but still enjoy scaring themselves with torturous flicks, then you don’t have to lurk around the deep web to look for these. Netflix has a fair share of anxiety-induced disturbing movies.

Net flicks is full of killing.  A disproportionate role of violence in its top offerings. – Record of Ragnarok.

So why do we accept so much graphic violence as entertainment?

Perhaps depictions of violence that are perceived as meaningful, moving and thought-provoking can foster empathy with victims, admiration for acts of courage and moral beauty in the face of violence, or self-reflection with regard to violent impulses.

Such hedonistic pleasures are only part of the story about why we willingly expose ourselves to scenes of bloodshed and aggression?

As we watch a movie, we are constantly aware of the context in which we are watching it. We are in our homes, a movie theatre or in the arms of a loved one, allowing us to experience the excitement and emotions of violent situations in movies without concern of being harmed. We protect ourselves from the violence by emotionally distancing ourselves from it.

However, desensitization is not the only explanation for the continuing attraction and tolerance of violent movies.

Some types of violent portrayals seem to attract audiences because they promise to satisfy truth-seeking motivations by offering meaningful insights into some aspect of the human. Research has shown that increased exposure to media violence increases one’s tolerance of violence condition.

The biggest culprit  is the Gaming World.

Within a dramatic or protective frame, violent imagery becomes exciting rather than anxiety provoking.

People seem to glamorize, or maybe romanticize death… its good joke material. Right up until they get close enough to smell it on someone they care about.

Don’t train you’re brain that violence is ok. All Sociopaths, psychopaths, and narcissists suffer from a complete lack of empathy and conscience.

Todays society has made people “numb”

Some of the bloodiest wars ever fought are almost unknown by the wider global public. The An Lushan rebellion (8th century) killed around 22 million. The war of Three Kingdoms (3rd century) killed about 40 million. The Taiping Rebellion (mid 1800s) some estimates put as high as 70 million. The Qing Conquest (of the Ming – early 17th century) killed around 25 million. These are figures that elsewhere only get matched by global conflicts like World Wars.

One of the most needed, least known skills in our world today is conflict resolution.

We don’t learn it in school, at home, in the media, or on the streets.

We don’t learn it at all, most of us, reducing our complex lives to only two options, either-or: win or lose, right or wrong, all or nothing, us or them. So we act on impulse, lapsing into fight or flight, perpetuating cycles of misunderstanding and violent interactions on levels from the interpersonal to the international. For all the tribulations in our lives, for all the troubles that remain in the world, the decline of violence is an accomplishment we can savour, ultimately.

THE BEADY EYE SAY’S. 1.5 CELSIUS IS NOT AN OBJECTIVE BUT A LIMIT.

( Four minute read)

We are 1.1 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels now.

1.5 degrees C is not a cliff; civilization does not automatically expire if temperatures exceed that threshold.

Humanity has nearly all the knowledge and tools needed to limit temperature rise to 1.5 degrees C.

The challenges are not primarily technological; they are political and economic.

What are these challenges?

World economy, which currently relies on fossil fuels for 80% of its energy, from collapsing in the process, the demand for these fuels must be radically reduced.

A major reason the world’s forests are felled at such catastrophic rates is to grow more food products, especially beef, soy, and palm oil.

Climate greenwashing that is, rhetorical promises by governments, corporations, or banks that claim to solve the crisis but may or may not measure up in practice.

The concept of “net zero emissions” demands special attention.

“Net zero”  is not necessarily a dodge, but offsets have a spotty record of achievement.

Many net-zero commitments by governments and businesses cite 2050 as the year when net zero will be reached. Indeed, roughly 80% of the world economy is now covered by commitments of net zero by 2050.

However “Net zero ”at the moment means giving a country or company that reduce emissions ( not to absolute zero;) rather, some emissions will continue, but they will be “offset” by countervailing measures that extract carbon from the atmosphere so the net result is zero emissions.

Promising that emissions will end by 2050 is easy for today’s politicians and corporate leaders, but that goal is only reachable if actual emissions fall by half in the next decade. Climate delay is just as lethal, precisely because 40 years of failing to act has left zero time for further delay.

2050 is far enough off that bold claims might seem possible, but those claims are only credible if they include real (i.e., non-offsets), substantial emissions reductions during the next 10 years, so whether such commitments carry an action plan that credibly cuts emissions in half by 2030 we will have to wait and see.

Why is that humanity waited so long to start the job.

No one wants to pay or to carry the can.

Money is at the heart of the climate emergency and its solutions.

At the moment, the world’s governments provide roughly $5.9 trillion a year in subsidies for fossil fuels, according to the International Monetary Fund. Meanwhile, the vast majority of governments’ stimulus spending to revive Covid-battered economies has reinforced the fossil fuel status quo rather than boosted the zero-carbon activities needed for a climate-safe future.

The challenge going forward is to halt spending that harms the climate and redirect spending to actions that help it.

This requires leaving most of fossil fuel reserves in the ground. But those reserves were (and still are) counted as wealth in the stock holdings of investors; leaving them unburned would render trillions of dollars of invested wealth worthless.

The main reason we waited so long is that some very rich and powerful economic and political interests knew climate action would interfere with their profits and privilege.

Fossil fuel companies now face dozens of lawsuits from governments and civil society groups demanding compensation for the climate damages the companies’ lying helped cause.

As the extreme weather in recent years has shown, climate impacts are punishing even after “only” 1.1 degrees C of temperature rise. This is especially so for the roughly two billion people who live in the (usually poorer) countries most vulnerable to climate change. Temperatures and impacts are bound to increase in the years ahead, if only because humanity can’t halt emissions overnight. Hence, the need for what climate experts call “adaptation”: actions to reduce one’s vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. Adaptation has never gotten the attention mitigation gets, perhaps because it was assumed, wrongly, that the rich could adapt relatively easily to rising temperatures

Now that smart money is abandoning fossil fuels, two big questions are coming into focus: How much of the rest of the market will follow the same course? And will enough of the money that’s leaving fossil fuels now flow to the technologies and practices needed to defuse the climate emergency?

The key is what governments will do to encourage private banks and investors to stop funding climate destruction and instead finance climate solutions.

Finally:  In the end we will all pay.

So here is a suggestion.

Rather than begging;

Why not create a perpetual World Aid Fund, funded by all of us, which is both transparent and fair and above corruption.

How could this be achieved:

Instead of private bankers, central banks, country governments etc,  making financial promises they underwrite the issue and interest returns on  (Non Tradable)  GREEN BONDS that are eligible to enter a Lotto style monthly draw.

These Bonds could be purchased on line from 5 euros (with no interest) to 500 euros and up paying x% amount of interest.

In the meantime we have the technology to place 0.05% on all economic activities that are for Profit sake only.  Example Profit Seeking Algorithms, Currency transactions over $50,000 , Sovereign Wealth Funds Acquisition, Gambling, etc.

Who would Control the Distribute these funds:

The United Nations out side any Veto influence.

What would the funds to use for.  Sustainability Projects. Green energy transformation, Reduction of inequality.

Who would monitor there effects:  The Earth.

( Ten minute read)

Technology is here to stay and we are supposedly on an unstoppable path towards driverless vehicles, fully automated internet-connected “smart homes”, and godlike artificial intelligence, when if fact we are on a path to the oblivion of our private lives.

As society is moving away from social interactions we take these technologies for granted and lose sight of reality.

So when are we going to wake up to the the pitfalls of personalized technologies that are targeting our lives, and what it is all ready doing, to what is left of what are supposed to be democratic societies.

It is difficult to manage the awesome power that is embedded in today’s technology however should we just sit back and let it exploited us with unregulated profit seeking algorithms and unauthorised data collection.

Its never to late to start asking questions.

We are so used to hearing that technological progress is smooth and inevitable these days, that it just seems like common sense.

However this idea may not be unrelated to the fact that the people who promote personalized technology are mainly the people with a large financial interest in the adoption of new technology -Facebook-Twitter-Google-Apple- LinkedIn – Instagram – Snapchat – Pinterest – Reddit and the rest.

Today, a plethora of personalization software tools, including AI and machine learning algorithms that are destroying individualism.

Just as our past futures need not be dead to us, our present future, with our reliance on devices, are becoming habitual, and if  not already could be compulsory.

There’s is no app for that.

On a social level, the two dimensional world of the flat screen does not support the development of communication.

It’s just sad that people really don’t even have to use their brains anymore. If you don’t use it, you lose it.

It is estimated that as much as 93% of communication is non-verbal, leaving only 7% to the words themselves.

( Not much less alarming, and far closer, is the moment when “deep fakes” – computer-generated pictures and video – become indistinguishable from the real thing.) People who buy into this garbage is being taken for such a ride every month.

The vast majority of people were simply never given the choice to accept the trade-off between personalized technology for profit or technology for the common good. For example tracking due the Covid Pandemic against tracking for profits.

Not convinced?

It is now increasingly clear that many, if we had understood what was at risk, would have never agreed to tracking Apps.

For example, back in 2018, Amazon filed a patent that would allow its Echo device to detect when someone is ill from the change in their voice, nasal tones, and stuffed nose. When synced with Amazon’s website personalization engine, this is invaluable information to make personalized recommendations for cold medicine, recipes, etc.  It allow them to achieve 1:1 personalization like never before.

Mobile devices themselves are truly turning people into mindless zombies and simpletons with personalized technology turning into the enemy. Yet most people are too blind to see it.  89% of businesses are investing in personalization.

I.E.  Target the right person, at the right time, with the right offer. Analysing every aspect of the customer journey, companies can incorporate real-time dynamic pop-ups.

Here’s a fraction of the stats showing the power and importance of personalization:

80% of consumers are more likely to purchase from a brand that provides personalized experiences.

The idea of greater convergence and connectivity between personal electronics is correct. One only has to look at the smartphone that trigger customised adverts or programme your phone based on where you are.  A company could tie itself to the Apple ecosystem, using an API to acquire data captured by each user’s Watch device into its own cloud-based system.

———————————-

As society pressures leaders for a more environmentally-friendly agenda the world of 2050 will be unimaginably different in many ways –  other than climate change.

Carbon management solutions will be an integral part of emission reductions.

For that, real-time measurement, abatement, and offset integration will help ensure companies not only talk the talk but also walk the walk and transparently meet their net-zero targets. Setting a target is just the first step; the second is to understand and quantify the real emission baseline into measurable units.  This can only be achieved with massive data collection. and analyzation

———————————–

The amount of information we share shared on social media networks is phenomenal.

A media company is now any company that helps pass information across the globe.  Before mobile technology, you had to search through a dictionary to understand the meaning of a word. Now you can look words up in a dictionary app or quickly search the Internet. Communication has even evolved beyond mobile devices and personal computers. We can now send messages through tablets, voice assistants, smartwatches, and more. That’s right. Your fridge needs a Facebook account. It can e-mail you when your shopping time comes around with what all groceries you need to buy.

So one can see so clearly that society is not going to stop moving away from using technology as our primary communication methods, but here is a word of advice do not rely heavily on technology to live your lives, learn skills.  Your life is yours to control.  Because without them, you will struggle to move on as a society.

It is said that by 2050, “computational machines will have surpassed the processing power of all the living human brains on Earth.

It is said that a AI – a machine that can do everything a human can do – will arrive, they think it’s about 50/50 whether it will be before 2050.

By this time if we dont tackle climate change the cloud will have absorbed the thinking of the many dead brain on Earth.

If we assume that transcendentally brilliant artificial minds won’t be along to save or destroy us, and live according to that outlook, then what is the worst that could happen – we build a better world for nothing?

It is said that AGI will develop. If it does, every other prediction we could make is moot, and this story, and perhaps humanity as we know it, will be forgotten.

With the destruction of genuine human interaction you know, that technology will  happen anyway, so I predict that we will see a lasting cooperation between the human race and the computational machines of the future.

However we are mow just beginning to see the down side to all of this  technology.

Technology has changed how we entertain ourselves, meet each other, and consume all types of media.

We might be walking around with biometric healthcare data chips on your clothes, in a world in which mega scale injections of sulphur dioxide into the stratosphere turn the heavens a milky-white, and a whole generation never sees a clear blue sky, in order to reflect more of the sun’s rays and pause the greenhouse effect. Artificial intelligence brains simply cannot cope with change and unpredictable events such as the climate change will create, whole cities that are abandoned and populations relocated, to avoid the worst effects we can’t prevent. We all need to work together to survive.

Society used to be able to make a long-term plan, now it is driven by data with its chaotic effect on our lives shows no sign of abating, it is at least predictably unpredictable.

We need a cultural change in values, to enable more deliberate decision-making.

Future technology is sure to transform our lives in unbelievable ways, but how among us wants to live a life based on private data collected – by the fridge – the smart TV – your clothes – your mobile devices -whether you looked left or right – how many shits you had a day- face recognition – what emotions you had at looking at an emoji- what your are eating, reading, saying- what twitters you like or don’t,- where you were, where you going – all analysed by an invisible algorithm that has no oversight, or conscious.

Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do with this information and data except hope that people come to realize it needs to be regulated.

The changes in the world over the next 30 years, wont be down to technology nor will they be online, thanks to climate change they will metalize mostly through low-cost smartphones receiving increasingly ubiquitous cellular connections as the world fights for resources that are necessary for life.

Remember when people used to sleep and dream at night?

Now all we do is zone out in front of a computer screen all night. It’s time to unplug from all this craziness and go back to nature.

Nature does not spy on itself , in order to evolve. PRISM -- It's the end of the Internet as we know it

( Six minute read)

There are 52 distinct human abilities, that cover a broad spectrum of perceptual, cognitive, and motor abilities.

However in this post we are not going to exam each and every one.

So rather than start from the fifty-two human abilities let’s exam how the human ability is interacting with AI and how the AI is interacting with the environment.

We defined AI in terms of sense, think, and act that correspond to the perceptual, cognitive, and motor abilities of humans.

We have two extremes, where at one end the AI is independently taking actions and making decisions; and at the other end we have a human-in-the-loop system, where the human is ultimately responsible for the decisions and actions, but is using the AI to inform his or her decisions and actions.

We have four distinct ways by which AI is being used today and has been used in the past:

Automated Intelligence: Assisted Intelligence: Augmented Intelligence: Autonomous Intelligence:

As we go through these four types of intelligences — from automated to assisted to augmented to autonomous, we require progressively more scrutiny, governance, and oversight.

Why?

Because today, AI is all-pervasive but still in its infancy .It is expected to be one billion times more powerful than human intelligence.

With every passing day, AI solutions are getting more powerful.  From conducting wars with drones, to the majority of the online content that we consume in our daily lives is  AI -generated.

If we have a look at our surroundings, we must be convinced that it is not just the future, rather it is the present.

To days world is run on software. It has become the lifeblood of the modern economy, by destroying our ability to understand the meaning of words and written language?

The way AI is getting incorporated into our existence is more than fascinating.

OUR ELECTRONIC AGE HAS GIVEN RISE TO AN EXPLOSION IN LANGUAGE THAT IS HAVING A DIFFERENT EFFECT ON ALL OF US.

Voice assistant is one of the most powerful AI software agents people have ever worked on.

Is artificial intelligence the most powerful thing that humans have ever created?

Because we are entering a world of generative language and remember that AI has little or no human oversight once it is in use.

70–80% of our thought process is influenced by our external environment or distractions so we are loosing control over our thought process.

Thanks to AI we are now showered with pictures and content selected by AI every minute of our lives.

Are emoji a step back to Egyptian Hieroglyphs?

Emoji meanings can be incredibly confusing.

Is he crying from laughter, or just crying?

They appear in advertising, in captions, and in videos, but their meaning and misinterpretations are extremely common.

Despite its similarity to words like “emotion” and “emoticon,” the word “emoji” is actually a Japanese portmanteau of two words: “e,” meaning picture, and “moji,” meaning character.

close up of emojis keyboard on an ipad or iphone in dark mode

The language of  emojis wont allow us to look into the past as words do with written history.

Words are enormously powerful tools that most people don’t fully appreciate like words of wisdom, healing, and life to others—words that edify richly, identify beautifully; words that multiply health and wholeness.

Language is a neurocognitive tool by which we can:

· Transmit and exchange information.

· Influence and control the behaviour of others.

· Establish and demonstrate social cohesion, and Imagine and create new ways of experiencing life.

In fact, we can’t stop ourselves from reading when we see what looks like a word.

We understand others best when we can identify the purpose that frames the words.  AI on the other hand has no idea what a word imparts. It cannot “read” other people by the words they use and the way they use them.

We are becoming non attuned to the nuances of words.

To give this some perspective Shakespeare had around a hundred thousand words to chose from.

———————————————

Neuroplasticity is probably the most powerful attribute we have.

We hold the future of all species in our very hands, including our own, but it is our DNA and environment that control us with

the power of words fundamental to life—and they can be instrumental in causing things to die.

We all have heard that a picture is world a thousand words but this seems not to be true when it comes to climate change.

Compassion:

With it and the above attribute we can achieve great good in the world, if we choose to do so.

Creativity:

To be creative, you need to be able to look at things in a new way or with different and new perspectives.

Allows for amazing human social and natural progress when combined with the other two above.

Greed /Money:

It is often said that money is the root of all evil but greed is an inner condition. By contrast, the virtue of generosity is most present not only when we share, but enjoy doing so. Any decision to take from others or to enrich yourself at the expense of others is an example of greed.

A deeper understanding of greed can help us to see that it is not only material goods that we desire money for, but also the security and independence that wealth can bring.

Where are we, what should change, and how?

We can start with a simple thought exercise.

You exist on Earth and, therefore, are in some location, right? So, from where you live, what do you see beyond Earth?

Get off the Smartphone. Dump emoji’s that communicate illiteracy.

Read to increase the understanding of imagination, the meaning of words, how they are used, when to use them.

Education, Education and more education to enhance creativity.

Money is only an instrumental good. that is, it is only good for the sake of something else, namely, what we can get with it.

Our combined inability to recognize this is down to the fact that we have created a Capitalist World on the foundations of greed, a culture of I am all Right Jack.  We’re being fleeced. It is disgusting, and everyone should be outraged that we are unwilling to share wealth to save our world.

THE BEADY EYE ASKS: WHAT CAN THE WORLD OF SPORT DO TO COMBAT CO2 EMMISSIONS.

( Six minute read)

Most of the world’s governments agree by now that global warming poses a serious threat to the future well-being of all people and they agree that it is desirable to reduce the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere by lowering our emissions of CO2.

But it would appear that we have given up with the emphases how moving to Adaptation. Another words prepare for the consequences rather then trying to prevent them. The problem isn’t how to convert the world but it remains and will remain just who will pay for the conversion to keep global temperature rise below 2C.

( About 20 billion tonnes of CO2 would need to be removed from the atmosphere every year by 2100.)

Cop26 – Glasgow

Most of the world ( at least 84% now have some sort of adaptation plan but there is plenty of variation across these plans.

The Disparity between the money needed to meet an adaptation targets and the money actually available is laudable as the funds needed will not keep up as the impact of climate intensify and most of this kind of finance is in the form of loans trapping poorer countries in long cycles of debt.

A simple “carbon tax” approach does not guarantee any particular total emissions amount and if a country wanted to use such a tax to meet specific goals, the tax would have to be adjusted frequently, which businesses would have a hard time dealing with (they like predictability in things like taxes).

Electrical cars won’t do it because it take 80,000 miles for the carbon of a new EV to balance out with a new gasoline car.

Planting billion of trees won’t do it in time.

Climate change is not an American, a Chinese, an Oil industry, problem it is a species thriving problem.

What’s is needed out of the forthcoming COP Summit in Egypt is to stop tearing each other apart and instead fund adaptation to the changes we are now all facing.

What we will get is two weeks of the usual verbal without any world financial commitment’s

—————————-

We could regulate our way to zero carbon emissions, but this will not solve the problem because once China comes out of Covid lockdown its admission will dwarf any regulations.

What is needed (as I have said in many previous post)  is to create a perpetual non begging world fund

So why not ask Sport the biggest industry (with its associated to the gambling Industry  and media Sponsorship) to give a helping hand.

Sport is not just about participation. It is also part of the commercial world, managed and marketed to make money. Sponsorship and the media are now significant influences on sport.

With the advent and overwhelming popularity of social media—including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram—Sky Sports apps.

So what could sport do?

One only has to look at the carbon emissions generated by the forthcoming World Football Cup.

The World Cup is very important and it is bound to have a carbon footprint.

There will be a direct human cost to this tournament. This is a huge amount of emissions for one sporting event.

FIFA says the Qatar World Cup will have a footprint of 3.6 million tonnes of equivalent carbon waste it will be ten times this.

The offset scheme the World Cup has chosen doesn’t remove carbon from the atmosphere, so it’s a bogus term. It’s very misleading to call this a carbon neutral World Cup. They’re not even removing carbon to compensate.””

FIFA’s claim this is the greenest World Cup ever doesn’t make any sense.

The Tokyo Olympics also made a bold offset claim before the Games.

After confirming that Tokyo 2020 was carbon-negative.

(According to the report, the Games generated around 1.96 million tonnes of CO2e. This figure would have been around 2.76 million tonnes if domestic spectators were able to attend thanks to Covid. ) It’s an impressive feat, given that the event’s estimated carbon footprint—2.3 million metric tons of CO2—is equal to the annual emissions from about half a million cars. The highlighted of the Games was the fact that the athletes’ medals in Tokyo were made from metals extracted from recycled electronic and electrical devices.

Even setting aside the carbon footprint question, the Tokyo Games are representative of an overall declining level of sustainability in the Olympics over time. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has mandated that all Olympic Games from 2030 will need to be certified as carbon-neutral or carbon-negative.

This can only be achieve by stopping the Olympic circus and ask the world to build a permanent Olympic stadium in Greece where the games originated.

The circus of Formal One could also do the same by  build a permanent racing track.

Indeed the great majority of world sporting events could take place in permanent position.

Of course the chances of this happing is zero.

We now have over two hundred countries attending the Cop27 conference which marks the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change A  Reason for hope or doomed to disappoint?

As we once more witness countries across the world fail to meet climate commitments to keep global temperatures below a fateful 2 degrees Celsius, can this year’s COP27 in Egypt rise above the failures of the past — or is it destined to disappoint?

It’s a matter of defining what criteria will be used to measure the progress. Only 79.6 billion dollars’ worth of climate finance have been provided, far less than the 340 billion per year needed for adaptation by 2030, according to the UN.

With out a world Aid Fund COP conferences have served very little or no purpose at all other then helping prepare the ground for future conferences.

We all know that Climate change leads to population displacement, tensions over natural resources and challenges powerful interests,”

SPORT COULD AGREED TO PLACING A 0.005% COMMISSION, ON ALL GAMBLING, ON ALL PRIZE MONEY, ON ALL SPONSORSHIPS ON ALL MEDIIA  AND SPONCERSHIPS DEALS, ON ALL TRANSFER FEES, ON ALL TICKETS TO WORLD EVENTS.

Without a world perpetual aid fund  the alternative is war and power struggles at the international level.

Cop27 is now all about money: ( See previous post. How to create a perpetual World Aid Fund – fair and transparent)

( Fifteen minute read)

We all know that Global leaders face formidable challenges, from dizzying technological progress and geopolitical tension to climate change to growing inequality but ours is an age of culture wars, identity politics, nationalism and geopolitical rivalry, all driven by smartphones.

An age of division, within and among countries with a global downturn that has meant that many of the foundation stones that we used to mark adulthood no longer exist.

This means international treaties and agreements must be framed or reworked to be sensitive to these requirements, including those relating to trading rules, investment agreements, intellectual property regimes and not world aid budgets becoming trickles of political conscious.

Monetary and financial policies need to be reoriented, to encourage greater inclusion of those excluded and to make the financial system one that provides financial security.

Of course the likely hood of achieving any of this in our life times is zero, and will remain so, till our goals in education changes from  needles consumption towards non-material goals, to protect the earth which we all rely on for life.

Indeed extreme wealth now needs to be eliminated and replaced by extreme generosity.

Prior to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the survival of an overarching concept of “one world” seemed at least conceivable, however difficult. But wars are transformative. The primacy of economics can no longer be assumed.

While technology continues its transformative march the Earth’s ecological and human systems are in severe crisis.

Although there is a wealth of information available, much of it is fragmented and the convergence of issues facing the earth are so interrelated that most of them cannot be fully understood out of context.10 Things Going On In The World Right Now That You Need To Know About

So here is some of that context:

THE UGLY:

33% of the world’s people live under authoritarian, non-democratic regimes.

On any given day at any given moment in your life, there are at least 15 wars and armed conflicts actively going on all around the world. Most are dismissed, forgotten, ignored and under-reported while the world stays busy looking the other way.

Civilians are being murdered, tortured and displaced due to terrorism, government instability and human rights violations. When these wars are completely forgotten and ignored, each and every death is even more tragic.

Over 100 million people live in slums.

3 billion of the world’s people (one-half) live in ‘poverty’ (living on less than $2 per day).

Poor countries (which contain 4/5th’s of the world’s people) pay the rich countries an estimated nine times more in debt repayments than they receive in aid

The richest 1% of the world’s people earned as much income as the bottom 57%. The wealth of the world’s 7.1 million millionaires ($27 trillion) equals the total combined annual income of the entire planet.

17 million people, including 11 million children, die every year from easily preventable diseases and malnutrition.

Nearly 160 million children are malnourished worldwide.

1.1 billion do not have safe drinking water. By 2025, at least 3.5 billion people or nearly 2/3rd’s of the world’s population will face water scarcity.

3.4 million people died prematurely as a result of outdoor air pollution.

The development and release of genetically engineered organisms and their products has proceeded globally at a rapid rate.

Millions of patents are in process and all living creatures are considered potential candidates for genetic modification and cultivation as bio-factories for human purposes and profit.

An estimated 27 million people are enslaved around the world, including an estimated 20 million people held in bonded labour (forced to work in order to pay off a debt, also known as ‘debt bondage’)..

700,000 people annually, and up to 2 million, mostly women and children, are victims of human trafficking worldwide (a modern form of slavery — bought, sold, transported and held against their will in slave-like conditions)..

About 246 million, or 1 out of 6, children ages 5 to 17 worldwide are involved in child labour.

275 million children never attend or complete primary school education. 870 million of the world’s adults are illiterate.

Half of the forests that originally covered 46% of the Earth’s land surface are gone.

Between 10 and 20 percent of all species will be driven to extinction in the next 20 to 50 years. 60% of the world’s coral reefs, which contain up to one-fourth of all marine species, could be lost in the next 20-40 years.

Bee numbers decreasing worldwide,

Global warming is expected to increase the Earth’s temperature by 3C (5.4F) in the next 100 years.

There are over 45 million refugees and internally displaced people in the world.

Desertification and land degradation threaten nearly one-quarter of the land surface of the globe.

Over 70,000 new chemicals have been brought into commercial production and released to the environment in the last 100 years.

Higher sea level (a consequence of climate change), particularly in low lying areas, will contaminate groundwater by pushing to the surface toxic substances that have been underground for many years.

THE BAD:.

Global co-operation remains essential. However deep the rifts become, we share this planet. We still need to avoid cataclysmic wars, economic collapse and, above all, destruction of the environment. None of this is at all likely without at least a minimum level of co-operation. Yet is that at all likely?  No.

Given the immense political and organisational challenges, the chances that humanity will prevent damaging climate change are slim.

The whole human race will run out of ‘Patience’

Smartphone is now ‘the place where we live’ however free speech is a power now being bought by the rich – Twitter – Elton Musk who will not ensure that unless it is controlled it will be offensive to someone.

Microchip technology has modified existing patterns of human activities such as personal, social, political, and economic spheres.

However making the production process safer for the environment might be the hardest problem they have faced.

Every microchip is a metropolis.

Unfortunately, like every city, these chips consume an immense amount of resources and generate truckloads of waste. The microchip is essentially made from sand—albeit sand that has been melted, purified, and refined until it is over 99.9999 percent pure silicon. Overall, a microchip is a structure that stands in abject defiance of the second law of thermodynamics: It creates a region of extreme order from a whole lot of chaos, and that does require a lot of energy.

The comforts of modern life gifted by these wonder chips come at the expense of a vast amount of resources.

One or more microchips runs every one of the 40 billion connected devices currently in use—a figure that’s expected to jump to 350 billion by 2030.

They have created a storm of microchip embedded devices which affect our daily lives.

There is enough depleted uranium in the world.

THE GOOD:

Even though it may feel there hasn’t been much uplifting news lately, there are still a lot of reasons to be optimistic.

The smartphone is changing the world, its vastly different uses are reducing corruption, enabling transparency, making it possible to document both good and evil political debate.

We’re close to eradicating some diseases, a vaccine against Malaria is one step closer.  Cancer deaths are dropping.

More and more people are moving to alternative media sources in order to find truth. We are seeing this happening in real time.

There is amazing amounts of information are at everyone’s fingertips, and instantaneous communication to almost anywhere is essentially free. We all live our lives awake and a sleep, in small bubble of self  awareness, unaffected or detached or deceived by a politically noxious combination of lies as to what is happing around us, till it comes home to roost, then its to late.

The word apocalypse has its roots in the Latin word apocalypses, meaning to uncover. That is what we are experiencing right now—the uncovering or revealing of the truth. The sooner we all come together to embrace this, the sooner it will become our reality.
