The world we live in and on has and will continue to face many threats from extinction to survival till its demise in 6.5 billion years from now.Résultat de recherche d'images pour "pictures of inequality eyes"

We all know that most of its present day problems have being created and propagated by us humans.

Some are easy to eradicate others not so.

WHY? Because global wealth concentrates is now in fewer hands resulting in inequality destroying our attitudes to world problems.

There is little need to state that there are many form of Inequality.

It come dressed in all colors along well beaten paths.Afficher l'image d'origine

But one form for me leads to many of the others and that is Income Inequality.

(The income from capital continues growing faster than the income from labor.)

While Economists are conditioned to believe in the optimality of the market the newest economic inequality numbers, which ran counter to the expectations of almost all experts, are frightening.

.That’s why they have been in denial for so long that change is not likely in the short run.

But we have to try, because getting this wrong means that economists promote machine-like models that suggest that it is simply some invisible mechanism (or maybe an invisible hand) that ensures that workers don’t get paid very much, that owners make high profit rates, and that the economy will be just fine under these conditions.

Market forces alone cannot determine who gets wealthy and who doesn’t.

Owners of capital seek higher returns through speculation in financial assets, in effect bidding up prices in an eternal quest for ever higher returns, returns that can’t be matched by investments in productive capital (the returns from which have been declining for decades).

Economics can no longer be accepted as a discrete, coherent discipline. It through inequality has left millions impoverished laying in its wake.

As a result there is tremendous anger, disillusionment and fear. All of which are corrosive to democracy.

Just look at the unfolding elections in the USA.

Nearly total disillusionment with established politics due to a dysfunctional government, with the Republican party now barely a political party with a candidate that has risen out of the poplar base called Trump that the establishment could not squash. The main stream spectrum of world politics is moving to the right. Neoliberal policies have led to declines and near stagnation.

You can rest assured that we are going to see a very ugly scene.

Their solutions are the same old failed tactics.

When both parties kowtow to money, the people’s needs are ignored, and

politics becomes illegitimate.

You might say that redistribution of wealth is theft. But Redistribution of investment Profit for Profit’s sake is not.

You might think that  21st century technology such as the internet is going to change everything.  But it is money that is writing the laws, the behind the door trade agreements, through lobbyist undermining democracy. This is happening all over the world.

There is no clear relationship between the total value of capital and profitability.

Whether distributions of income and wealth are partly shaped by social and political relationships – class conflict if you will – or mostly by “market forces.”

The forces of technology are what they are.

Take the contemporary communication technologies it can be used for various purposes, to increase surveillance, to increase power, control or it can be used for to empower people.  Technology does not care you can use it both ways.

The technological connectedness is a myth.

If there is to be a rebalancing.  The current trade agreements could be designed for the people.  They are not.

They are however designed for the benefits of investors. They are not trade agreements except very marginally. That is the reason that they are keep secret, not quite totally as the details are being written by corporate lawyers and lobbyist.

They are however up to now effectively secret from the population.

We can fix the problem, but it will take bold steps. It will take a combined movement not splintered movements to force change. This is highly unlikely.

There is hatred and anger about just about all institutions.

There is only one way to effect redistribution.

Place a World Aid commission on all financial and acquisition activity that are made for the sake of profit. ( See previous Posts)

It is us the tax payer that bailed out the Banks, that paid for the research to create the internet. Are we getting any return on the investment. No.

THE BEADY EYE SAYS: WE ARE LIVING IN A SORT OF DELIRIUM–NOT REALLY KNOWING THE FACTS ABOUT ANYTHING-

As soon as we really know the facts you would think that we would all begin to behave very differently, of course.

If we could, would not your heart swell with something far from anger. We might see our power of duty as custodians to the world that we all live in.Afficher l'image d'origine

Instead nothing much happens, except swallow high words on what needs to be done to achieve change in order to see the real power, the real dignity, our real responsibility in the world.

Over the next couple of decades the world will be facing new problems (in addition to the well-known challenges of creating economic growth and maintaining social stability), some of which cannot be easily solved by the market.

Forty years from now, how much will energy cost? What will happen with the climate?  Most importantly, will you be richer?

Let me tell you it is more important that you are satisfied with life than whether you are somewhat richer or poorer.

Empirically, for some, income is the sole determinant of life satisfaction. But for the majority, a whole host of factors influence our well-being—job, health, family, community, prospects for the future—in addition to income.

It is the sum total of all aspects of life that determine your wellbeing, both now and in the future.

If humanity rose to the occasion and ran a rational world how much better life would be for all of us and the generation to come.

Many argue that this does not matter because we are leaving for future generations a whole lot of capital, infrastructure, and technology. But to paraphrase the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, “People cannot succeed in ecosystems that fail.”

The prime example is the climate challenge.

It is a truly global problem:

The forecast maximum in 2080 is above the threshold that world leaders agreed would place us in the danger zone for runaway climate change; but it is important to realize this is a politically negotiated goal. Views differed, and still differ, on what will be safe. Or in other words, what will hurt us.

Does it matter?

Will the world of 2052 be a better world?

From a psychological perspective, probably no, because the future prospects in 2052 will be grim because of the increasingly uneven distribution of income and wealth that has built up over time as a natural consequence of the free market.

In my opinion there will be huge differences between people. But on average the world will be a better place.

It’s important to note that people 40 years from now will judge their circumstance more on how it has changed from their own recent past than from our vantage point of today.

Even the most diehard liberalists appear to agree that redistribution is something that is not automatically undertaken by the market by itself, but needs to be done via political action

In order to reduce some of the tension implicit in the rapid increase in inequity in the capitalist world.

It’s time to commence down the road of re thinking how or world works and reconsider what kind of world we want to live in.

Although we refer to most of it as civilization it is anything but civilized.

We have being killing each other and everything around us since time millennium.

It’s no wonder that the social arrangements up to the present have largely failed to produce a peaceful and productive world.

While we appear to be technically advanced our values and behaviours are not.

The possibility of an optimistic future is in stark contrast to our current social, economic, and environmental dilemmas.

If we stay the present course, the familiar cycles of crime, economic booms and busts, wars, and further environmental destruction are inevitable.

Will the young generation calmly accept the Debt and pension burden of the old.

No. The simplest reason is they don’t have to. In the rich world, particularly, the first generation that has rung up a huge national debt and established a huge unfunded pension scheme is about to retire.

The interesting, to say the least, question is whether the next generation will be willing to carry this burden and peacefully pay the debt and peacefully pay the pensions. I repeat my answer: I think not.

At the moment we have an unsustainable world, where the environment is going to have a bigger than ever say in shape our behavior.

Where our global monetary system is going to become obsolete, and increasingly insufficient to meet the needs of most people.

Where the banking , media, criminal justice systems, and world Organisations are tools of social control managed by the established political and economic elite.

We need a redesign of all our cultures. We need to up date to the new era of technological revolution.

Our problems are mostly of our own making and now it is the time to come together under a new World Organisation to resolve them.

In 2052 a full 60% of the energy used will still be fossil. As a result climate damage will be growing fast, as will the unavoidable costs for repair of that damage. Paradoxically this means that humanity will choose to pay bills for repair after the crises, rather than paying the same amount of money for renewable energy ahead of time and avoiding the damage.

We all know that if we continued willy nilly with the I am all right jack scenario we are heading for a cesspool of troubles that will put our very existence in question.

There are numerous solutions but the hard fact is man is incapable of acting as one.  Furthermore no one wants to pay for change. Not a Country , not a Government, not a social system.

It’s true that all the money in the world will make no difference if we don’t change.

It is also true that any change will have to just and fair to all.

If you have not looked at the below video you should do so.

You might think that the only thing that matter is a  Job.

It is the only way in which the individual can get part of the societal pie—without engaging in theft. Society—at least in the long run—will do its utmost to ensure there are jobs, typically by seeking rapid economic growth. But we know from recent history that this is a taxing task, and that politicians often fail.

This video misses the big question. Who is going to pay.

Here is the answer:  Profit for Profit’s Sake.  We must place a world Aid commission on all High Frequency Trading, on all Foreign Exchange transactions (over $20,000), on all Sovereign Wealth Funds Acquisitions, on all Hedge Funds, on all Lotto Wins. Curbing greed is a first and very important step in that direction.

(see previous posts) —— 0.005% will do the trick. A perpetual Fund to address all our problems fairly spread over what is causing our problem in the first place.

Technologies will not save us.

All contributions other than like are needed.

The Future of Mankind, United Nations

There is plenty of blame to go around for the state of the world we live in.

But to many decisions are now driven by political expediency instead of values.

Its is a sign of how perversely twisted the bureaucracy we have now in all our out of date World organisations that once had principles.

Personnel decisions are considered more dangerous than the responsibility to tackle a range of terrifying crises facing us all.

Terrorist breeding grounds in Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Libya,

Not to mention Climate Change and all its consequences.

I mean all of us the Rich, Poor, White, Black, Christian, Muslim, and the unborn.

The United Nations is failing and in desperate need of reform which can only be achieved by an outside examination that is Independent.

If this is not undertaken the UN should be scrapped and replaced with a new World Board that has the health of the earth and its people at its core.

Since the United Nations established its first peacekeeping operation—almost 70 years ago—more than 3300 people have died serving the UN in the pursuit of peace.

  • Peacekeeping operations since 1948: 71

THE BEADY EYE SAY’S GOVERNMENTS ARE FAILING US.

WHY?

Because they no longer guarantee life and the pursuit of happiness.

I am not talking about you can’t please all the people all of the time.Afficher l'image d'origine

I am talking about when they come together in the United Nations an out of date organisation with no secure means of funding other than begging. Only when signatory nations are prepared to follow suit with firm domestic policies is a UN aspiration somewhat effective. This never happens on global issues as they are afraid of paying the political price.

On something as fundamental as changing the source of energy which is going to cost trillions. Only governments coming together will there be any effect.  They are supposed to be a trustee of the natural resources that citizens depend on for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

In modern society, of course, much of the complexity in our lives is placed there by governments, supposedly acting to “help” us avoid failure or to “protect” us from failure.

Instead they are eroding our liberties by collecting reams of information from your digital footprint. Our societies where you’re free to be whatever you want, feels less and less so each year.

They are selling climate dispensations, flogging off natural resources and revenue earning industries to sovereign wealth funds for short gain profits.

Some failures were obviously. They are failing to adequately address global warming.  It seems to me that Politicians seem to think that the Marketplace will take care of it.

More visible recently were the bailing out of  high-profile banking institutions which are still considered by the government to be too big to fail without threatening the long-term well-being of consumers and the broader economy.

They have created confusing missions that are not be communicated and embraced, and are were easily undermined by rank corruption and unethical conduct, or are beyond careful monitoring through performance measurement and management. They don’t  ‘know’ enough to enable them to make effective decisions about the best way to allocate scarce resources with the top appointees unqualified to lead.

The days are gone when many economists believe in the efficient market hypothesis, which assumes that the market will always contain more information than any individual or government.

The implication is that market prices and market movements should be free from interference because markets cannot be improved upon by individuals or governments. However we all know that the invisible hand of the market place will not bring about the changes necessary.

Which brings us back to the United nations. An organisation so infiltrated by lobbying groups that it is danger onto itself.

The world is in a mess due to greed, and democracy as we know it is under attack from unbridled consumerism and Social Media. We have to accept the reality that markets are not motivated by the priority of care. Nor is it the United nations.

Why don’t we the voters demand better representation?

We must demand that the United Nations pass  binding people resolution placing a World Aid Commission on all High Frequency Trading, on all Sovereign Wealth Funds Acquisitions , on all Foreign exchange transaction over $20,000 on all other form of Capitalist Activities that function for profit for profit’s sake.( see previous posts)

This is the only way we can take care of our world make Greed pay for it.Afficher l'image d'origine

THE BEADY EYE ASKS. ARE WE ALL BEING DUMBED DOWN?

Some time ago I posted are we all being Googlified.

We use the internet and social media is not so much to expand our minds as to lose them.

Social media does not democratise debate. It limits it to the resilient, offering tweet-size solutions.

We tend to validate what we already believe, wish or suspect is true as opposed to challenging our way of thinking.

In this overheated world fulled by attack ads, and social media frenzies, the only think that matter is how an individual feels about something. Feeling validates itself and anything else is an establishment conspiracy.

It is well-known that if you want to rule a people keep them ignorant.

Take the USA for instance.

One has only to look at the rise of Donald Trump, the Tea Party, Climate change deniers, Creationists, and the hold these have and the lengths believers go to push their agendas, contrary to tangible, scientific proof, to understand that ignorance is something people invest in heavily.

In a country that was founded on Immigration the USA that has built some 650 miles of wall along the 1,954-mile US-Mexico boundary. There are around 16,238 murders per year in the United States; this averages out to around 44 murders per day. There were 2.24 million prisoners in the United States as of Dec. 31, 2011. That accounted for about 22 percent of the global prison population.

“It’s a stark fact that the United States has less than five percent of the world’s population, yet we have almost 25 percent of the world’s total prison population.”

America is killing itself through its embrace and exaltation of ignorance.

Here as elsewhere we see politicians more concerned with appearing approachable than smart or engaging in genuine political discourse.

Celebrity gossip dominates news feeds and cycles.

We have a generation that have not read a book since leaving school. How take selfies posted on Facebook to say look at me I did this or I am here, got the t-shirt. Who cares. Almost all of us have been there before you.

Topical TV discussion ( on this side of the pond Question Time, Hard Talk, News Night and the like) shows use celebrities, sportspeople, or some one from the station’s stable of stars to discuss controversial issues eschewing experts and reducing complex subjects to clickbait.

Shrinking government funding for Education, and other artistic, creative, literary and scientific endeavors, works to erode the significance of scholarship and creativity and all they entail as respectable and seriously useful occupations or pastimes.

Universities are changing as a consequence of fee charging and anti-intellectualism. Instead of teaching students the joy of learning and critical thinking, we train them for jobs.

Ignorance should never be held up as inspirational, convenient fictions, don’t replace facts, and aggressive cyber trolls never silence the truth.

A clever country is where intellectuals are not scorned as elite, but recognised as essential.

If we want inequality to disappear our Leaders must educate for free and capitalism with its unrelenting greed must pay. ( see World Aid commission of 0.05%)

THE BEADY EYE SAY’S SHAME ON US ALL THAT CALL OURSELF EUROPEANS.

European Union, Migrants/Refugees.

More than a million migrants and refugees crossed into Europe in 2015, sparking a crisis as countries struggled to cope with the influx, and creating division in the EU over how best to deal with resettling people.

Under the terms of the EU’s deportation deal 202 people from Greece to Turkey have to-day being forcibly returned to Turkey.

On the island of Lesbos, which lies just across the Aegean Sea from Dikili, the 136 deportees boarded two Turkey-bound boats in what some witnesses described as a “sedate state”. On Chios, a Greek island farther to the south, violence briefly erupted as police attempted to transfer selected deportees to a third ferry.

The calmness of proceedings belied the horror of what they represented.

“This is the bargaining and bartering of human bodies,”

Only two of the 202 deportees were Syrian. The rests were mostly Pakistanis, and so could have been deported back to Turkey under pre-existing international agreements, or Afghans, who the Greek government claimed had elected to return to Greece of their own accord.

“It is absolutely mind-boggling that neither the media nor human rights organisations had access to the detention facilities to monitor the asylum procedures,” said a Human Rights Watch spokesman.

The first day of deportations has been met with affirmative statements by credible international organisations, including the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), who confirmed that all procedures were regular and rights of deportees were observed.

Even as the expulsions were under way, a rubber dinghy with about 40 men, women and children arrived from the shores of Turkey, and on the other side of the Aegean dozens of others were arrested trying to follow in their wake.

Turks are now putting up blue tarp to stop the prying eyes of the press.

The conflict in Syria continues to be by far the biggest driver of migration. But the ongoing violence in Afghanistan and Iraq, abuses in Eritrea, as well as poverty in Kosovo, are also leading people to look for new lives elsewhere.

Europe needs to be reminded that Deportation from Europe has a dark history.

Without genuine transparency over the enacting of the EU-Turkey deal, pictures alone won’t be enough. Amid this crisis, children are the most vulnerable of all. Many are travelling with their families, while many others are on their own. Every one of them is in need of protection and entitled to the rights guaranteed under the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

 This is an appalling deal.

We that is Europe is responsible in more ways that one for the Crises. If we were less concerned and not driven by fear we would have set up proper immigration enter channels and now of this would now be necessary.
Our world organisation like UNICEF can only stand by and appeal for funds.
There are still millions caught in situations of conflict, displacement, poverty and underdevelopment – the main causes of the crisis
“It’s what happens when the media is not looking that will matter most.”

Map of asylum claims in Europe in 2015
Tensions in the EU have been rising because of the disproportionate burden faced by some countries, particularly the countries where the majority of migrants have been arriving: Greece, Italy and Hungary.

In September, EU ministers voted by a majority to relocate 160,000 refugees EU-wide, but for now the plan will only apply to those who are in Italy and Greece.

Another 54,000 were to be moved from Hungary, but the Hungarian government rejected this plan and will instead receive more migrants from Italy and Greece as part of the relocation scheme.

The UK has opted out of any plans for a quota system but, according to Home Office figures, 1,000 Syrian refugees were resettled under the Vulnerable Persons Relocation scheme in 2015. Prime Minister David Cameron has said the UK will accept up to 20,000 refugees from Syria over the next five years.

Let me ask you.

What would you do to escape ISIS and the Taliban?

Even if we have taken in the odd million.

Shame on us all. That we can’t offer at least temporary sanctuary.

“The journey is difficult but we have no choice,” We have to endure.

THE BEADY EYE WONDERS WHAT SORT OF DEMOCRACY DO YOU THINK WE HAVE.

(A Four Minute Read:)

We all know that democracy comes in many forms.Afficher l'image d'origine

The question however is, what (if any) form is worthwhile having or is what we have worth keeping.

I ask this because we are now traveling in some of the Earth,s most unforgiving environments where consensus democracy is just beginning to take hold.

We are entering a period in the world thanks to Social Media where old grudges are arising to the surface and are now threatening to destabilize world peace.

We are also entering a biomedical and silicon society with the recombinant DNA enabling the manipulation of life as its genetic essence.

Physics and Math with the help of computer power is not only revealing how the world works but how the Universe was formed with magnificent and dangerous ways to exploit it.

Perhaps because we are the invasive species of all it’s time we have to ask ourselves is Science and the game changing technology collaborating to destroy democracy or enhance it.

Is it still true to say:

Compared to dictatorships, oligarchies, monarchies and aristocracies, in which the people have little or no say in who is elected and how the government is run, a democracy is often said to be the most challenging form of government, as input from those representing citizens determines the direction of the country. The basic definition of democracy in its purest form comes from the Greek language: The term means “rule by the people.” But democracy is defined in many ways — a fact that has caused much disagreement among those leading various democracies as to how best to run one.

Our governments have made education a chain and ball of debt that locks the mind into materialism.

Instead of looking after their citizens they put ( under the miss comprehension that growth will cure-all ) the Economy first when they should be hanging their heads in shame when one citizen through no fault of his or her own lives life and died in poverty.

There is little point in maintaining a nuclear deterrent if you have to live out you life on the bread line. What’s the point if you all but wiped out before the button is pressed.

I recently visited Singapore Zoo.  The youngest zoo in the world.

It sported a simulated Rainforest, a tropical Polar Bear and hundred of school children which will never see any of the Zoo residents in the wild. I could not shake the feeling that I was looking at our feeble attempts to show what was left of values. Perhaps it is because I was seeing a generation becoming bereft of connection to nature.

The caused of our separation from all these things pervade every aspect of our lives.

The rise of personal computer in the form of smart phones solely promoting free-market capitalism rather than equality, and values that count.

Most of us in the west are crying to have our needs met, and eventually adapting to them not being met. Perhaps such an upbringing is necessary in our cultural democracy contex. We are prepared from birth for a competitive dog-eat-dog economy. That expresses itself in greed by the continuing the imperative need to convert all natural and social into money.

All aspects of our present day democratic culture conspire to strip us of our connection and belongingness.

Property rights, Surveillance, Debt based financial systems where money is scarce, religious indoctrination, a legal culture of liability, Racial, ethnic, national chauvinism, deskilling jobs hat leave us as passive helpless consumers of experiences.

An Internet of everything that most impertantly is a metaphysics that tells us that we are discrete, separate selves in a universe of others.

As this world of separation crumbles so will Democracy.

Because of the atmosphere of scarcity is everywhere everything must change.

To appreciate the sweep of change and magnitude you only have to look at Climate change (perhaps its time to put a monetary value on the sky and people will not treat it like a free dump.) and the billions being spent by the Candidates for the President of the USA.

Ted Cruz $65 million

Mareo Rubio $ 17 million

Jeb Bush $104 million

Ben Carson $39 million

Chris Christie $19 million

Donal Trump $6 Million

Hillary Clinton $100 million

Bernie Sanders $42 million

They are transforming modern-day American democracy into a form of theater and television ads.  The correlation between big money has condensed democracy into buzzwords, glitz, the main currencies attracting attention on our television screens.

With the wealth of the 62 richest people in the word now standing at over $2 trillion which is the cumulative worth of the poor half of the world population we have Google, Facebook, Twitter and other Corporate giants building technologies with artificial neurons that can learn on their own.

These may in time exhibit intelligent behaviours virtually indistinguishable from those of its human masters.

The question is longer what phone should I get? It’s what ecosystem should I join if any as they could all become the same.

Privacy is going out the window.

There are vats of coli bacteria churning out medical insulin, plastic polymers and food additives that might go where they are not wanted.

Limited world resources and being snapped up by sovereign wealth funds and hedge funds.

Algorithms buy and sell share and currencies making a mockery of the stock exchange.

Fusion power is light years away.

Not everybody is happy with the high-tech changes.

The Web is weakened the foundation principles of Democracy or if not reshaping them.

Our World Organisation are out of date, setting in motion a sequence of events that will change the history of life which is one contingent tale, liable to be rerouted at anytime. ( See previous posts)

We left with the question can capitalism Democracy deliver change.

Not on its own as it is based on greed, power, corruption, non transparency, taxies, to name just a few of its ticking cogs. God forbid its is left down to this man.donald Trump

There is only one way we can achieve a better world.

Scrap the United Nations which has become a begging Organisation of worthless resolutions.

Replace it with a World Aid Organisation that is financed by Capitalism with a 0.05% world aid commission on all High Frequency Trading, on all Foreign Exchange Transactions (over $20,000) and on all Sovereign Wealth Funds Acquisitions.

This would create an Organisation with genuine clout and save Democracy.

I hope this blog will awaken those who are not already conscious. All comments welcome.

THE BEADY EYE ASK’S : WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

( Five minute read:)

How often have you heard this question.

It is mostly posed with a form of some aggression.

Not so here.

SO I SUPPOSE THE BEST PLACE TO START WITH THIS POST IS WITH WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE, AS YOU LIKE IT.

“ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE, AND ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN MERELY PLAYERS; THEY HAVE THEIR EXITS AND THEIR ENTRANCES, AND ONE MAN IN HIS TIME PLAYS MANY PARTS.”

We all have roles to play in our lives and these change as we move through it.

Do you find yourself thrashing against the tide of human indifference and selfishness? Are you oppressed by the sense that while you care, others don’t?

That, because of humankind’s callousness, civilisation and the rest of life on Earth are basically stuffed?

Many of those who dominate public life have a peculiar fixation on fame, money and power. Their extreme self-centeredness places them in a small minority, but, because we see them everywhere, we assume that they are representative of humanity.

“It’s all about political opportunism and humanitarian posturing,”Afficher l'image d'origine

With the best will in the world it is unlikely that you will turn out as an adult with no unhelpful of unintended modifications – or what is called “conditioning”.

The true YOU is the one that finds life fulfilling in a deep sense rather than theoretically good on a purely intellectual level.

The personality is not YOU, you have a personality, so if you want your “self” to be aware of itself, you will have a long wait!

However, you, as an independent observer of your own internal processes, can become aware of what your personality is up to, how it is behaving and the impact on yourself and others.

As Fritz Perls said:

“Truth can be tolerated only if you discover it yourself because then, the pride of discovery makes the truth palatable.”

These days with technologies we hardly understand where we going never mind how we are.

It’s the culture.

Technology isn’t a section in the newspaper any more.

I think people are tired of complexity and they’re hungering for clarity, a simpler time.

The more we do things, the more they become a habit and the more that we think in the same way, the more these patterns of thought and behaviour become our identity.

The more that we depend on the masks and the safer that we feel as a result of wearing them, the greater the risk and uncertainty we feel of taking off our mask and interacting openly, honestly and authentically.

With the massive economic and cultural transformation driven by Silicon Valley are we no longer in control of who we are?

mask masks incertitude life

However if the personality is our sense of identity, but is not us, then who are we?

Our personality is like a piece of armour which is at the same time our greatest shield and also potentially our greatest prison. It enables us to deal with the outside world, but it can also insulate us from it – and from other people.

We are also not our personality, which has in large part been forged as a result of the experiences of surviving and protecting ourselves in the real world.

Take for instance, Politicians. given their image-conscious online life in the public eye  .

Most millennials still worry about attaching themselves with a click to the wrong clique or hashtag:

“It heightens the level of uncertainty, anxiety and risk aversion, to know that you’re only a bad day and half a dozen tweets from being fired.”

Smart phones are dominating our sense of identity and we will if not careful end up feeling lost when they end.

You need to find an internal source for our identity, not an external one.

The old verities of who you are now seem quaint, but many millennials are now paralyzed by all their choices.

There was a time that we understood that not everyone was destined for greatness.

If you work hard and play by the rules, you’ll lose out to those guys who can wire computers to make bets on Wall Street faster than the next guy to become instant multimillionaires.

Or losers who have soured our sturdy and spiritual DNA with too much food, too much greed, too much narcissism, too many lies, too many spies, too many fat-cat bonuses, too many cat videos on the evening news, too many Buzzfeed listicles like “33 Photos Of Corgi Butts,” and too much mindless and malevolent online chatter?

Our quiet traditional virtues bow to our noisy visceral divisions, while churning technology is swiftly remolding the national character in ways that are still a blur.

Boldness is often chased away by distraction, confusion, hesitation and fragmentation. Or are we forever smaller, stingier, dumber, less ambitious and more cynical?

Have we lost control of our not-so-manifest destiny?

Misanthropy grants a free pass to the grasping, power-mad minority who tend to dominate our political systems. If only we knew how unusual they are, we might be more inclined to shun them and seek better leaders. It contributes to the real danger we confront: not a general selfishness, but a general passivity.

We’re a little bit scared of our own shadow. And, sadly, we see ourselves as a people who can never understand one another. We’ve given up on the notion that we can cohere, by holding together people with deep differences.

We’ve broken Iraq, liberating it to be a draconian state-run on Sharia law, full of America/ English-hating jihadists who were too brutal even for Al Qaeda.

We have to re earn greatness.

But that’s going to be hard to restore in the world today.

Young people are more optimistic than their rueful elders, especially those in the technology world. They think of themselves as global citizens but are more interested in this moments of crazy opportunity.

With awareness comes freedom.

As you become aware of your fixed attitudes, beliefs and values that may no longer be useful to you and you begin to understand that there were good reasons for you to have adopted them, you can begin to see that it is neither good nor bad that this is the way life is – and the way that you are – it is just a natural consequence of living the human experience.

The authentic self is the true self underneath all the conditioning that has been acquired through life’s experiences.

Being in touch with our true selves is about getting real, not living in a fantasy of who we could or should be, but living with what is.

Life has become more complex but we hardly ever notice it because technology has made complexity simpler than ever. Who you are and where you are is tracked and sold on to ever is interested. The Private who is dead and gone.

The only knowledge we need to have is the knowledge of where to find stuff.

Humans today are like most smartphones and tablets – their ability to solve problems depends not on the knowledge they can store but on their capacity to connect to a place where they can retrieve the answer to find a solution.

Technology will continue to evolve and the gap between what can be solved with and without it will only increase. That is, we will become more and more dependent of technology and the only intellectual disadvantage will be the inability (or unwillingness) to learn to use it.

One could also imagine that this IT-overload may prove too much for some — In short, people who are able to keep up with technology will outsmart those who don’t (even more than they do now).

So perhaps there is no need to know how you are but more importantly where you are.

Too much Google, too much Face Book, Twitter, clicking from one site to another, or for that matter reading with out pause, constitutes a kind of scattering, a distraction, an agitation of the mind.

Our reliance on Google Search, is resulting in unrealistic self-confidence in our cognitive abilities.

That’s right, we are all plagiarising the internet without even realising it.

You might think that all is this is just hog wash but in a few hundred years from now most of us will not know the meaning of the word where and if we don’t know where we are from there is little chance of knowing who you are.

If we look at western Europe it appeared that we are not building anything, but merely trying to hang on to something we have inherited, but don’t necessarily value.Afficher l'image d'origine

With the immigration and refugee influx this will have to change.

What is the narrative that drives what we are building in Europe… and who is creating that narrative?  Not us.

We have derived a narrative from a century of conflict, and the received narrative is shaped around not fighting with each other. Fully understandable. But, for my children’s generation the wars of the twentieth century are as remote as the Battles of Agincourt or Waterloo.

This is why I wonder if Europe needs a new driving narrative that helps us consciously shape who and what we want Europe to become.

The old narrative of solidarity no longer applies.

We have Razor Wire replacing open frontiers. The Dutch reverting to extracting gold fillings and the Belgians wanting concentration Camps in Greece never mind what ‘solidarity’ means to young unemployed people in Greece or Spain.

So, the questions remain.

Who do we think we are and what do we want Europe to become? And who will shape the narrative for a new generation?

Billions of decent people tut and shake their heads as the world burns, immobilised by the conviction that no one else cares.

Attitudes of fear and paranoia adopted by many have led to an increasingly hostile global environment.

Cherished and treasured human values are trampled beneath a host of vitriolic “we’re better than you” convictions. Our world is sick, however, facing political and environmental disaster on an unprecedented scale.

Many of the problems plaguing us stem directly from deeply-held convictions of social differentiation and exclusion, rooted in philosophies that justify heinous acts in the service of a ‘greater good’. We are what we do. We have to start doing better.

We have to start somewhere. Why not a World Aid Commission Of 0.05%. ( see previous Post.)

In this century we have had only three brief moments when a majority of us said they were satisfied with the way things were going:

Have a go at naming them.

THE BEADY EYE SAY’S: THE NIGHTMARE IS WELL ON THE WAY.

( A one minute obligatory read if you are interested in the planet you live on) .

It is not amazing that the contemporary world is marked by a growing number of problems that are genuinely Global in scope.Afficher l'image d'origine

Yet instead of addressing them we spend our time discussing ISIS, North Korea, Mr Putin, Worthless Trump, Air Brain Palin, The price of Oil, Stem cells, New Planets billion of light years away, the list is endless rubbish.

In the mean time we have the spread of Zika virus, a blizzard to beat all blizzards, thousands of Refugees, billions being spend of Presidential Campaigns while Inequality spreads like a cancer.

So forgive me for thinking we must be one of the most selfish, stupid, technology driven like button idiots that ever existed on this planet.

Based on the Best current science we are looking down the barrel of a gun with the bullet fired.

There could be no more extreme than current weather patterns, melting glaciers, sea level rising, megadroughts, desertification, deforestation, food supply disruption, famines, infectious disease, mass migration, social upheaval, economic distress, political instability.

All conflict multipliers that will turn Earth into an unlivable cauldron of I am alright Jack.

It seems that few realise how dire this situation has become or is becoming.

All down to human activity that continues to prune the evolutionary tree of life with gay adabondament.

And if that is not enough evidence that we are heading full speed to oblivion. The last Global Biodiversity Report presented some hard facts that the population of vertebrates that include mammals, birds, reptiles, sharks, rays, and amphibians – living within the tropics declined by 59% from 1970- 2006.

Just in case that has not sunk in what they are saying is that more than half of the vertebrate population between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer has disappeared in the last 36 years.

They also found that birds in Europe declined by 50% since 1980. Birds in North America declined by 40%.

Just one more hard fact that it is time to open our eyes. All plants species the foundation of the food chain upon which we depend – are currently ” threatened with extinction.

Yet humans around the world are either unaware of the situation or have their heads buried in the sand, when we should be taking immediate action.

Our consumerist economy that promotes the endless acquisition of products over the conservation of nature would need 1.5 Earths to meet the demands we currently make on Nature.

You might not still appreciate just how bad things are. By 2048 there will be virtually no more wild caught seafood. Our oceans are dying from Lake Erie to the Baltic Sea, the Gulf of Mexico the coastal water of Australia New Zealand, dead zones are growing. The Baltic is already Dead.  60% of all coral reef have being turned in to white ghost towns.

I have being lucky in my life to have traveled both by sea and land extensively.

Experiencing nature first hand let me tell you that there is a critical threshold that once crossed will result in a sudden and irreversible change. A tipping point that will arrive overnight.  There is no technology that can restore it to its original state.

I might sound overblowing and alarmist but look around you. We have little real knowledge of how the ecosystem works but just because we can’t see the catastrophe doesn’t mean it not real.

After all 99.9% OF MATTER is empty space, yet no amount of squinting will reveal this fact to the naked eye.

What does matter is that our fears accurately track the totality of the evidence presented.

This is why solving the problem ought to be on the top of the list of all superpowers in the world.

The likelihood of this happening is the same as asking is the Pope a Catholic.

Even if it does happen, nobody, no Government, no World Organisation, no Country, no Economy, no joe soap has the will or money to rectify a world that is bent on self-destruction.

This is why we must create a World Aid Fund. ( see previous posts)

It is the only solution that is non Political, spreading the cost across all beliefs all colours evenly.

Go on press the like button if you are one of the Googlefied that think you are living on the Planet. If on the other hand you are truly alive get involved and leave your thoughts. Afficher l'image d'origine

THE BEADY EYE ASK’S: ARE WE ALL SO BRAINWASHED OR JUST PLAIN STUPID THAT WE CANNOT SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL.

( A two-minute read. A thousands years of consequences)

Industrial society is out of control. Run by Scientific, Technological, Industrial, Business and Financial education.

Billions of, you name it, has being destroyed in the name of progress.

What we now have is unsustainable growth, with almost everything being turned into a commodity for the sake of profit.

It could be said that Industry has turning Urban dwellers into blood suckers of the planet by creating unnecessary, meaningless, futile and destructive jobs and professions to keep them occupied.

To such an extent that they City dwellers are fooling the world with terminologies … Progress, Growth, Development, GDP.Afficher l'image d'origine

Industrial Society has destroyed most of the biodiversity and ecosystems in just 250 years for the sake of consumer goods, greed and profit.

It seems ridiculous that we complain of overpopulation when it is Industrialisation that is the cause of overpopulation.

So we have now arrived at point in the world where we can’t live with it or without it and are looking at Technological Machines to save us and the planet.

We are confronted with unsolvable problems, spending billion on Space Exploration while our water, air ,rivers, lakes and oceans are being polluted. With billions of acres of agricultural land been poisoned by million of tons of Pesticides, insecticides and fertilizer.

Neither Capitalism, Socialism or Communism matter.

There is little point debating over Capitalism, Socialism and Communism as they are all equally harmful.

Monsanto is not going to become less harmful or is any other Industry whether they are operating under any of the three.

There is little hope of mind set change even if climate change forces mass migration and a Industrial Conscious. Our countries and political leaders are more concerned with what happens to the economic climate rather than what really counts.

Our world media promotes triviality while ignoring the larger picture.

Who cares if it is Mathematically impossible for the USA to pay off 16 trillion dollars of debt. With 5% of the world population it has consumed 20-40% of the world resources with borrowed money.

The earth climate will not be saved by discussion like the Paris Climate Conference.

All political parties in the world are promoting Growth Rate, Economy Rate, GDP which require more and more nuclear plants.

Even if the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and ISIS, were to join forces they will not be able to create Mega Disasters as big as Chernobyl or Fukushima.

Claiming that nuclear power is not harmful is like claiming that the sun is not hot.

It is insanity to the power of infinity.

Why bury nuclear waste when it will remain radioactive for thousands of years poising the soil, water, humans, animals and the plant.

The bigger the Industry the bigger the Industrial accident.

There is no fourth place for the billion of tonnes of Metal waste, Plastic waste, gaseous waste, chemical waste, e waste, nuclear waste other than space which is already polluted.

The production of Plastic uses about 20% of the worlds oil produced.

We cannot save the environment after it has been killed by Industrial Activity.

We have one group trying to save the Forests, another group trying to save the Oceans, another the fresh water, another Air, another whales , another donkeys.

What is the point of saving a few dogs, whales, tigers, elephants when we seem unable to save ourselves.

Earth’s Oceans will contain more discarded plastic than fish when measured by weight by 2050.

Big data, the internet of things and the cloud are all about one thing only cutting costs. They create wealth for only a tiny minority.

What is the point of storing every contact, twitter notification, photo, and documents in a cloud that has a veracious appetite for electricity. The only reason we do it is because it s free.

Millions in the world die for trivial reasons. Million kill for trivial reasons. Billions live on a few dollars a day.

Perhaps we should award the Nobel Prize for Lunacy for the pretending that the environment is getting saved to ourselves.

We have people who pretend to be deeply concerned about Inequality between man and man. But they are totally unconcerned about Inequality between millions of other species.

Equality does not come from Theories, Philosophies, and Terminologies. Nor does it come from  Capitalism, Socialism, Communism.

We spend billions on Get Rich quick Lotto’s, pension funds (that in turn invest in Hedge Funds that exploit capitalism) in education, in health, in weapons, in gratification of pleasure, in energy, in Technology ( that cannot create a Forests, a mountains, a rivers, an ocean, it takes million of years.)

Industrialization all ends up on the world Stock Exchange Markets where trillions are made in nanoseconds by Algorithms in High Frequency Transactions, Foreign exchange transactions. These trillions are used to set up Sovereign Wealth Funds the true terrorists of the world which are privatizing the very essence of life.

So are we all so dumb that we think it can go on for ever and ever without exploding.

It is too late for either religions or political systems to create a new world moral code. Afficher l'image d'origineAfficher l'image d'origine

Its time we stopped all the gossip in our out of date world organisations and put in place A World Aid Commission of 0.05% of all High Frequency trading transactions, on all Foreign Exchange transactions ( over $20,000) on all Sovereign Wealth Funds Acquisitions, on all new drilling licences.

This will create a perpetual fund spreading the cost of rectifying the world problems evenly amongst the world Industries that caused them in the first place.

How can this be achieved.

The same way that most thing are going to change with the pressure of Social Media and the Smart Phone.

All it needs is a Crickhowell movement. ( Which by the way is led by the local coffee shop, the local book shop, the optician, the bakery, the towns salmon smokery.)  A small town in Wales whose independent traders got fed up of being ripped off by the UK Governments taxes. ( Look it up. Were all not stupid.)

What to stop us doing the same, by placing a Worlds people resolution in the United nations.
