A 0.05% WORLD AID COMMISSION – WORKINGS

As I have said I am not the first to advocate what I like to call a commission ( FTC- Financial Transaction Commission) not a Robin Hood Tax or any other kind of tax.  The very word Tax these day sends quivers in all the wrong directions. However perhaps I am the first to broaden the application World Wide.

It would have little or no effect on world economies with very little cost to collect as present collection of taxes is done electronically.

Even if it was applied universally only to currency transactions over $20,000 it would produce billions with the potential to make a huge difference to the well-being of millions of people.

The foreign exchange (FOREX) market is the largest market in the world, with enormous sums being traded everyday. The size of the market is so huge that it is quite difficult to comprehend the amounts involved. More than $1,200 billion (or $1.2 trillion) worth of currency is traded each day, more than three (3) hundred (00) thousand (000) billion (000,000,000) dollars ($300,000,000,000,000) each year.

Lots of taxes are hard to collect, but this doesn’t seem like one of them.

Sales taxes have decent compliance, and they are often collected by small businesses conducting commerce in cash.

Trading, on the other hand, is conducted by large businesses on computers. This commission would be collected by the exchanges. If there’s no exchange involved, the buyer owes it. It would be paid on any trade carried out in the world or by any world entity or individual (a corporation’s offshore subsidiaries can’t get around it).

It can also be imposed on unfilled orders, derivatives, repos, currency trades and any financial transaction but this is already on the cards within the European Union  and the USA and other countries

A financial transaction commission (FTC)—a commission on the trading of financial assets—has multiple appeals.

It is a progressive commission that would affect primarily wealthy individuals and large corporate institutions, with benefits potentially flowing to many. Further, while an FTC is not a substitute for effective regulation of finance, it would act to dampen some financial activity, helping to reshape a political economy in which finance has become overly dominant. Finally, the political logic of an FTC—the dynamic of Wall Street vs. Main Street—should give it wide appeal.

The first question is who would manage the fund ?

To create a totally new Organisation would be too cumbersome/ and too expensive to set up.

But a consolidation of existence United Nations organisations/ agencies would save money and resources.

Such a consolidation could combine THE FOLLOWING : OCHA, UNICEF, UNDP,UNEP,UN-HABITAT, UNODC, UNFPA,WFP –  INTO  (ONE ORGANISATION CALLED  –  UN CONCERN – OR WORLD AID COMMISSION- OR UN REACTION WORLD CONCERN.

The funds revenue could be allocated as follows.

50% – Rapid Aid – fully equipped Response -Centers.

25% – Climate Change  Defenses.

25% – International Development Fund.

This concentration of aid over the next 10–12 years would constitute an unparalleled investment in development with benefits that will accrue over time as infrastructure is put into place in the poorest countries.

As always I end this blog fully admitting that I am no expert and all contributions are welcome. The next blog I will attempt to outline how the fund will be transparent and avoid outside political or other pressures in its allocation of funding.

If you are Interested I would be more than pleased if you would give your support to My Petition to lobby the United Nations and the G*8. (  link – https//www.change.org)  – search Robert Dillon.

THE LANGUAGE OF POVERTY IS CHANGING

If you have even been on the end of a tongue lashing, or received praise you will appreciate the power of Language.

Society is reflected in Language.

Is this the reason that Poverty is being replaced in Language by the word Inequality.

Inequality of wages, inequality of opportunity, inequality of education, Inequality of benefits, inequality of immigration, till you arrive at the inequality of inequality.

My point here is that by replacing the word Poverty with Inequality LANGUAGE is making a consciousness shift in our behavior to Poverty.

FOR EXAMPLE.  Governments legalisation of gambling with Lotteries that take most of it money from the poor to pay for affluent people ‘s activities is a form of moral decay in our Societies.

You might not think that language has the power to changes your perception. You would be wrong.

Language has being used to dehumanize the enemy in all recent wars.

Here are a few examples in no particular order.

Cruts, Nips, Goons, Terrorists, Charlie, Hun, Jerry, Haji, Ragheads, Pinko, Tiliban, Rubble-Heads, Towel heads, Shinnies, Dink, Slope – Bastards, Nips,

Once poverty ment.

Deprivation, want, insecurity, helpless, powerlessness, inferiority, pitiable, despicable, beggar, vagabond, leper, undeserving, deserving, humble, dependent on Charitable relief.

These days Poverty means :

Immigration, human misery amidst the plenty.

In work poverty, no hours contracts, minimum wage, benefits.

Education, state against private.

Refugee. Natural disasters, wars.

Exploitation. Modern day slavery.

You may think that this is of no consequence, but once society starts to dehumanise its social and moral values with words it is devaluing its core values to the whims of the rich condemning the poor to the Scratch card of life.

Inequality is full of blame, while poverty is full reality.

Try it for yourself. Close your eyes. Say poverty. Now say inequality.

I am sure you will appreciate the difference.

WE MUST STRIKE A BLOW FORWARD INTO TIME:

I am the first to admit that there are more qualified to comment on Capitalism in the age of Globalization.

But here is what I see.

The age of Globalization and new technologies is profoundly reconfiguring Institutions fundamental to processes of governance and accountability ( for lack of a better words) in our modern States.

If you don’t believe me just look at  Crimea, the Ukraine, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Somalia, Algeria,Tunisia, Chad, Burma, and on and on we go all being destabilized.

Why?

Because Economic globalization has transformed the territoriality and sovereignty of the nation-state.

The term Sovereignty, has a long history. From Aristotle to the UN Charter.

Globalization has had a short history as a ruthless corporate-driven extension of commodity production. Solidifying its hold over Institutions, labor, culture, and our very own lives. Now turning into a deadly cycle of terrorism and militarism.

The unbridled capital accumulation of Sovereign Wealth Funds will spread ecological devastation as they recognize no territorial or cultural boundaries.  Devoid of any meaningful social ethics or planning mechanisms they are rapidly becoming the new terror spreading toxic contamination of water, air ,soil, food with global warming with resource depletion, ravaging Nature.

There can no longer be any doubt that their short-term objects of profit for profit sake are in direct conflict with the long-range survival – as human beings – of everyone on Earth.

Representing what I call Corporate colonization they are close if not already totally out of control while the wretched of the earth continue to increase with Poverty turning to Inequality.

I have said in previous blogs that we are incapable of change and that the only way we will affect change is to make greed pay by taxing all Stock Exchange transactions world-wide. We must pay for what we value. The only way to achieve this is for a people’s resolution to reform OUR WORLD ORGANISATION  SUCH AS THE  UNITED NATIONS , THE WORLD BANK, THE IMF ALL NEED REFORM.

Not a day goes by that we don’t hear or read of new technologies of the information age.

Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings.

We wake up in the morning and live our own lives.  The life you have being born into.

But why not have an impact on how the future turns out.

So take the first step on to the pages of History and join a movement to get the United Nations to pass a world people resolution to fight inequality by placing a 0.007% world aid tax on all Transactions in all the stock exchanges of the world.

The nineteenth century witnessed the evolution of an international Economic order, which has led to profound change in the balance of the Haves and the Have not’s of to-day.

The next century is well on the way to Privatizing all earths resources.

More than in any time on earth we are interacting. It is not surprising that the divergences of our life styles is causing problems. Around the clock news links us all and our every movement is monitored to see what we are up to.

Data trading to predict what we are up to is going to be big business.  Is big business – Twitter, Facebook, Google It.

Once upon a time before time was invented harmony existed until the Farmer arrived. Grow one for sustenance, two for gain, three for security, four for power, five for status, six for greed and so on.

More and more rich countries are now setting up Sovereign Wealth Funds to exploit for profit sake the resources that belong to all of us. If we turn a blind eye we’re all going to end up buying Bottled water, bottles fresh air, censored knowledge. In other words our right to live our diversified lives.

“Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever
our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin,
colour, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally
entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights
are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible.”

These rights are now being commoditized and are on a collision course with everyday life and data collection.

WHETHER YOU HAVE THE GOOD FORTUNE OR NOT ITS YOUR LIFE TO DO WHAT YOU PLEASE WITH IT.

A window is now open with the power of the smartphone, the web, social media, to change the balance of power, to voice our rights, and stop the world turning into one big shopping mall.

BIG DATA IS LEADING US TO CULTURAL DE-ACCELERATION.

The most recent centuries have seen extraordinary accomplishments in improving quality of Life AND WE MUST ALL LEARN TO MANAGE WITHIN IT.

For example: All those interested in Health will have to learn to keep up with advances in digital monitoring through wireless technologies of biological information. In doing so learn how personal feedback systems will apply to prevention rather than cure.

We hear that change is accelerating, while the pace of change is accelerating faster.

It appears to me that this is true of computational carrying capacity at a planetary level and that the two are connected, but we are also seeing cultural de-acceleration.

We are investing our energy in futuristic information technologies that are creating Big Data. Another words machines get smarter, we are getting stupider.

Breakneck development of personal technology is creating over choice, and surplus complexity. Just look at communication. We at the point of gluttony. Choosing take’s time and our time is not unlimited. Businesses are engineering complexity which produces additional revenue.

Just look at what you have to agreed to before hitting the “I agree”

Or put Cooking Pot into Google and up come 8.600,000 results.

These technologies are also the basis of NSA spying, flying robots killing people, the wholesale privatisation of biological life itself.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not against the world of technology, but Big Data is going to change our world in way we cannot image.

If the key problems facing our species were to be solved, you would have to jail most of us, and there would be less and less work.

I can hear you saying so what, what’s your point.

Sorry I can not be more specific as they are in a state of developing and need your input.

Business and technologies can be the great engines that lifts billions out of poverty but they both need a new kind of values driven ethos rather than profit for profit sake.

Technology is developing in rich countries while Tigers are disappearing.

Which of the two contributors above to you think are more important to life in regard to REWARDING us.

Is Technology creating technological deserts of inequality? Is it that is replace Poverty with Big Data which is owned by the rich?

Is Technology Privatizing the World through Sovereign Wealth Funds?

So my point is that we must bring fresh thinking to our world if we are going to avoid Inequality on a scale that is all ready out of control.

You will see from previous blogs I advocate that humans are incapable of developing a system to avoid this happening due to greed.  So before we are all writing with GOOGLE Pens that need no Education lets hear what you have to say.

CAPITALISM CONTINUES TO PRIVATIZE THE PLANET.

This is the first post to this blog .

The purpose of this blog is to start a world mobile phone movement to effect change by Uniting the combined Communication Powers of us all into one world voice that will have to be listened to by World Organizations  and World Corporations.

These days we are  served up doom and gloom daily with the last decade leading us down the path to disillusionment.

DEMOCRACY ERODED, LIVELIHOODS DESTROYED.  WITH GOVERNMENTS EVERYWHERE BETRAYING THE MANDATES THAT BROUGHT THEM INTO POWER.

September 11 tragedy now turned into a convenient Excuse for any anti-people legislation denying civil liberties worldwide. The Arab Spring is a quagmire>The Euro a nightmare >The Afghan War a needless lost of life>The Israel Palestine Question a dark cul-de-sac>NATO a war machine>The United Nations a gum shield between the west and the rest>China a supermarket>Climate change a trading commodity>Football a religion>Austerity a goal>Economic Growth an aspiration that no one seems to know how to achieve.

IF WE ARE ALL HONEST WITH OURSELVES THE WORLD IS GOING WRONG:

By the year 2030 there will be 50% more of us-6 million a month.

Humanity will have to put aside the deep divisions it has maintained for thousands of years.

Find a new spirit of human co- operation. Stop spending trillions on arms. One-fifth of the world’s present days population live in the “rich world” consuming 86% of the world’s goods. While over half the people on Earth live on 2$ a day with the absolute  poor on a !$ making up billions. Where is the justice that the gross domestic product of the poorest 48 Nations is less than the wealth of the World’s three riches people.

You don’t have to look far to see why we have Terrorism. Poverty and lack of Education spawns it.

While we turn back the evolutionary clock pumping 8 billion tons of Carbon into the Atmosphere each year wiping out 50,000 species a year in collective denial.

There can be no trade-off between economic development and the protection of the Environment Even if it is possible looking back from the Moon and see no trace of human activities that show up.

Our Democracies seem unable to achieve any progress such as mitigating climate change, better managing ecosystems, creating a fair global trading system. However we have the knowledge, the data and the technologies to do all of these things.

The question is not so much ” How could we have learned so little in all these years after two World Wars? But ” How could we have learned so much and done so little?

So it’s time to stop supporting large World Corporations and the like that don’t show a corporate social responsibility and use the power of getting Smart with our smart phones.

Any comments, suggestions, are welcome.  My next blog posting will out line a plan to create a World Aid Tax to be applied on all World stock Exchanges.
