New Zealand

( Seven minute read)

A country where sunshine and shadows are mingled in more ways than one.

A country discovered by a Polynesian, named Kure not by an English Captain named Cook.

A country of 5.3 million, half the size of France with 8 Universities all registered as charities.

A country with more trust than the pebbles on its beaches.

A country that used to be very far away, bought for a few glass beads.

——————-

As the Nation prepares to mark the Waitangi treaty, it is difficult to see how the Maori culture which gives New Zealand its uniqueness, will survive at the bottom of a rapidly changing world.

The reality is.

When New Zealanders travels outside of NZ they’re knowing as Kiwi’s. When they travel within the country they are known as Pakeha by the Maori (which is an ethnic group not a social economic group.)

New Zealand as a country has and will for some considerable time impart an image of a Prestigious- Beautiful- Physical country- full of macho fit people. An outdoor playground.

However there is another side.

A country full of – Retired Rich Zimmer frame people living in over priced Australia retirement homes or wooden white houses, with galvanised roofs separated from each other by inches, with wooden decks, to watch passing joggers.

A country with rich men Holydays Homes called bashes, with more outboard engines than seafaring craft, pumping Co2 into the atmosphere than all its cows and sheep combined.

A country with competitive bible bashing churches, gum boots cattle farmer’s, tattoos gangs – global warming- kiwis growers- that shakes now and then with volcanic activity with one in four of its people mentally insecure.

A country now with the new Treaty Principles Bill at a pivotal time in its political history, but unfortunately it is full of small groups of wealthy people hiding behind asset stripping churches, (that are designated as charities), who are forging ahead to protect their entrenched economic power, which is leaking at an increasingly rate to the immigrants populations, while the indigenous population ie the Maori are becoming surplus to the country needs.

This mix is now supercharged to cause untold troubles, because of the rarely discussed inequalities and racism suffered by the indigenous peoples of the country. The New Zealand Māori. Who if travelling outside the country might not be recognised as a KIWI but as an all black.

This section of the population comprises 20% of the population but accounts for 52% of the prison population showing a cultural disconnect, underscoring the difference between the two different cultures residing in New Zealand.

Now I don’t claim to understand Māori culture/religion nor do I have any real understanding what’s the country obligations are under Te Tiriti, but can someone kindly put the following into lay man’s language.

The establishment of a Maori parliament and the signing of Te Ngakau o te Iwi Maori are critical steps towards asserting our tino rangatiratanga, laying the foundations of our motuhake, and ensuring decisions for the future of our mokopuna.

—————————-

New Zealand is still a small island country hard to get around without a car, with more than half its population living in Aukland.

Ka mua, ka muri”, which means walking backward into the future.

Ka mua, ka muri as the methodology urges us to learn from the past to navigate the future.

While the future evolves from the past, it is not bound to repeat it.

To me this KA MUA KA MURI is making a passage from one nation to another.

Without an a written constitution giving equality opportunity to all communities within that country the move from one sector of society to another is only rituals to mark the passage of time.

In a colonial situation like the Māori people descendants now trying to reclaim their land in a world of globalisation this is absolutely unacceptable.

Perhaps with the surging technological competence ( with no connection to any mythological or sacerdotal systems from Inuits to Maori.) it’s time to ask Artificial Intelligence’s to write a comprehensive constitution for the NEW Zealand of the future.

Some societies are impenetrable to observe from the outside.

It’s not always possible to make a clear distinction between the concepts of law and politics.

Mechanisms of social control can hardly be described as legal.

The question is where is NZ going.

Just like the rest of the world NZ is beginning to value its unique position.

To day there is a sense of selflessness, a hubristic sense of superiority, and unrivalled ingredients of Maori & Pakeha mythologies, devised to justify and explain their presence in the country, in order to give meaning and some social cohesion to their lives of their peoples.

Unfortunately the sense of imagination is lost to the whining winded smart phones chatter, that leads to dull conversations with in one’s head.

I say get a life.

Here today gone tomorrow.

( Two minute read)

New Zealand is still physically a beautiful, country surrounded by glorious beaches.

However it’s real beauty is to be found in the density of its population scattered throughout its countryside.

This is not so in its city’s which are polluted with billboards, and Co2 admitting traffic lights.

( due to a lack of roundabouts and a modern day inner city transport system.)

All resulting in traffic jam to beat the ban, damaging not just the environment but its fragile economy.

On top of this bus stops are surrounded by parked cars, traffic cones.

Parking regulations and fines are not obvious, so be on guard.

Tip 1. Save Aukland till leaving.

Tip 2. Tour South Island before North.

Tip 3.What looks close on maps takes time to get too.

Tip 4. Coffee is an art form.

Tip 5. Bring plenty of Loot NZ is expensive.

Tip 6. Asian drivers ( that can just see over the steering wheel of massive electric cars ) are to be advoided .

Tip. 7.Wonderful Asian Restaurants.

Tip. 8. Water sports a must.

Tip 9. Don’t be fooled by a dull day. Ware a hat, and highest sun block available or get fried.

Tip 10. Visit soon as it will be Chinese in the near future rather than the future future’s.

( Fifteen minute read)

With Artificial Intelligence this is a question that all countries are going to have to address within the next ten to twenty years.

For New Zealand this question is arriving in more ways than one simply question.

Grappling to this day with an agreement that dates back to 1840 (which was ment to be a partnership between the British crown and the indigenous Maori, not the other way around) New Zealand find itself politically in no man’s land.

The Maori signed a treaty written in both English and the Maori language called the Waitangi.

The current Treaty Principles Bill debate reveals a fundamental constitutional reality:

NEW ZEALAND existence is based on an imperial treaty and this treaty predates the emergence of its parliamentary democracy.

The treaty needs to be understood in the context of the age of revolution and an emerging imperial era in which European empires negotiated many treaties with each other and indigenous peoples.

So the treaty to day needs to be read in its immediate New Zealand context and British constitution history, which is based on the Magna Carta dated 1215. ( The English constitution has never been written in a single document.)

The Waitangi treaty like all British treaties points to the English notions of empire, with imbedded privilege in a graduated social hierarchy of mutual obligations- noblesse obliged.

Therefore it cannot be squashed into a later democratic paradigm of individuals with equal citizenship as the Act Party’s Bill might prefer it was.

The truth if faced, is that the treaty arose in a completely different context from the present, but still is the foundation to New Zealand constitutional arrangements with the crown. This is the position and will remain so till New Zealand stand on its own two feet and its people are no longer surf to an unelected monarchy.

This means that the treaty principles are tied to their historical foundations.

You could say that treaty settlement have done much to re-establish tribal collective identities but they do not have the right to exhaust the ongoing treaty based rights of the indigenous people- Maori who were a free people.

(Democracy itself is a Johnny come lately on the global stage, not more than a few centuries back old.) It remains the best way to co- ordinate a multi- ethnic society, but it must reflect local agreement and histories.

While New Zealand retains King Charles as head of state the British government has ongoing obligations to the indigenous peoples on which its authority is based.

Edmund Burke’s 1790 conservative policies sum up the position New Zealand finds itself in.

Society is indeed a contract… it becomes a partnership not only between those who are alive, but between those who are living and those who are dead and those who are yet to be born.

Of course New Zealand has moved on since 1840. However we all know forget the past and the present makes on sense.

We all know that stupidity is more dangerous than malice treaties. They cause civil wars, apartheid, and genocides.

Because of the very nature of treaties they lead to race politics.

Millions have died because of treaties, millions have lived because of treaties.

New Zealand problem is not who owns what land, rather race politics is and continues to divide the country.

This is also the problem with North Ireland.

A land that was taken forcibly by the English in return for a peace treaty that caused a civil war, the establishment of a apartheid state with years of killings and a new recent treaty call Good Friday. (Written in English and not Gaelic the language of the original inhabitants.)

If there’s no written constitution that enshrined equality, every decade that passes the meaning of treaties change.

This is why the need for a written constitution is paramount to interpreting any agreement/treaty.

We have and are entering a new era of digital information and Laws and the way we use them with Artificial Intelligence are developing a style of their own.

People have to be with in hearing range of each other firstly to have any agreements.

In order to unify any people/nation in the world of artificial intelligence’s there will have to be a citizen equal act against any platform, digital citizenship, algorithms greed/ profit and climate change mitigation taking precedence over the vote.

The only way to have a large-scale political conversation among diverse groups of people is to set out the terms and conditions in an agreed constitution.

The key misconception here is that we equate elections to democratic outcomes but a liberal democratic citizenship with Artificial Intelligence can only be achieved with an Equal Citizenship Act that is enshrined in a written constitution.

It could be said that Democracy is at a tipping points. Yes democracy governments are messy. They have so many demands on them that their elected members are not in touch with reality.

Whether his is true or not social media is distracting and distancing us from the real problems, giving rise to populism.

History is full of examples as to what happens when the Democratic process brakes down.

New Zealand with all its faults / beauty / expenses remains one of the best countries to settle in, and it must do everything possible to remain so by not becoming another Hong Kong abandon by the British Empire it must establish its independence internationally.

THE BEADY EYE : CONTINUES ITS NEW ZEALAND OBSERVATIONS.

New Zealand

( Ten minute read)

With the second largest harbour in the world New Zealand is a colonial country with a Maori identity which is its unique point of difference in the world.

Plague by its past history it is now struggling to accommodate a cultural diversity.

JThis identity is reflected both in a language called Te Roa Māori ( The language that gives the exotic names not just to physical rivers mountains which did not arrive yesterday but to the whole country heritage.] along with a muffled pioneering English the is plagued with the word like.

Without its Māori heritage to the world the country would be just be a natural backwater of physical beauty that plays sports.

As with most colonies countries-their historically background are only coming to the forefront within the last few decades.

For the country to move forward as one nation white New Zealand needs to learn its true history, which is very unlikely.

At present there is a farcical demand for an independent Maori government.

Just imagine trying to marry two governments to run a country full of Cantonese immigrants.

In 1989 the government allocated $20 million to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the treaty of Waitangi. On the day of its anniversary in 2010 the Māori Flag for the first time flew over the Aukland Harbour.

Before New Zealanders fought for the British Empire in overseas wars they like the Irish fought against it on their own soil.

A lot of New Zealanders seem to think that modern day New Zealand came from a Treaty but the Waikato war in particular the siege on Orakau Pareto where Rewi Maniapoto made his last stand is a historical and spiritual significance to Maori who were the major inhabitants of the time.

The country is littered with Maori Art all of which is capitalised on by the tourists industry.

Below is a photo of a Pou Whenua.

It represents traditional knowledge and navigational tools Māori have held for centuries.

At the turnoff to Arowhenus Pa at Temuka stands a limestone archway, built in 1934

The Arowhenua Kamala to commemorate three significant strands of identity for the Waitaha-Kati Huirapa hapu of Arowhenua.

It honours the memory of a rangatira Te Hipa Te Maiharoa who passed away in 1855, the transformative leader Tahupotiki Witemu Ratana, of the Ratana Church, as well as 12 Maori soldiers of Te Wai Pounamu who fell on the Great War.

This is it.

The difference is that Te Ureweta is tied to Maori identity.

It takes one generation to get rid of a language and more than three to reinstate it.

Here is a He Mihi.

Kia hipokina ano e to korowai te taone but.

Grab the city with your verdant cloak.

Kia whiwhi ko matos

That we, your heirs might benefit

Kia whiwhi te ao katoa

And so too, the whole world.

Mastering the art of interpretation in Māori is almost impossible.

For example translating Toi Tu Toi Ora:

Toi means knowledge, skill, excellence, source, origin, or mastery.

Ora to be alive, well and safe.

Mauri Ora means, that our life essence and our Wairua( Culture connectors, like Whatapapa (genealogy) atue ( ancestors) Karakia (prayer) and tikanha ( custom)

Wairua – living soul.

All come into play.

Try these words

Pouwhenua: Long- handled pointed weapon.

Tewhatewha; Long – handled fighting club.

It’s almost pathetic to think that like most indigenous peoples Maori have been reduced to second class citizens.

When the sun shines on this country there are no words to describe its physical beauty, other than you have died and gone to heaven.

Don’t wait till you are too old.

This is a young man or woman’s country requiring strong lungs and limbs and the ability to swim, climb, fly.

( Five minute read)

With 3200 km of coastline AUKLAND is a city which like all major cities has its ins and outs and its ups and downs.

With thousands and thousands of avenues, streets, dead ends, health centres, shopping malls, jogging tracks, expensive children play grounds and retirement villages, it is surrounded by extinct volcanoes.

Apart from its land mark post office tower and Bridge, it is a city of cheek to cheek wooden movable housing costing millions depending on their sea views.

Known as Tamaki- Makau- Rau its Maori name.

It’s a cosmopolitan expensive city of around 2 million people, compared to London 8 million it has one of the highest density of 2,500 people per square kilometre, comprising of Indians, Chinese, British, Singapores, Tongans, and the odd Maori, with the largest ethnic Polynesian population in the world.

With one way in and one way out its is evacuated on weekends to bashes ( holiday homes) by most of its residents.

Aukland suffered from traffic jams, traffic lights, and traffic cones to beat the ban.

Herne bay would give the average person a hernia with the average property costing over 3 million NZ$ full of wealth Jafa New Zealanders.

Acacia cottage is its oldest building 1841. However Kemp house 1822 a mission house is the winner. Parnell is its oldest suburb and perhaps its most expensive. South street is its oldest. Gilchrist its oldest shop.

Hay Bro who would if you had a choice live in North Island when South Island is a showcases of nature might.

Human presence here is relatively new so it’s not as fucked up as the North Island.

( Four minute read)

On the bottom of the world New Zealand is the last bit of dry land to be colonised by humans. In this regard it is just a baby – 700 years old.

It was first seeing in 1642 by a Dutch man. Not for another century did Cook turn up.

To day in the land called New Zealand by the colonists and Aotearoa by the original owners, no one really knows who owns what

It’s not the British crown, it’s not the indigenous Maori, before the Middle Ages no human had set foot on New Zealand.

Its history has been passed down by oral tradition of Polysion peoples over forty generations developing into a settled people called Maori.

So perhaps it was the Moa Bird that owes what is now called New Zealand.

How ever it’s looked at the declaration of independents which led to the what is called the Waitangi Treaty which is not a treaty but a covenant.

There is one thing for sure no body was crossing ocean nautical miles to go home empty handed.

( Two Minute Read )

When you visit New Zealand you will see its indigenous people culture in the names of its townships and marked reserves however you don’t meet them unless they are presented to you in a tourist village.

To day New Zealand population mix is European 64.1%, Maori 16.5%, Chinese 4.9%, Indians 4.7% Samoan 3.9%, Tongan 1.8%, Cook Island Maori 1.7%, English 1.5%, Filipino 1.5%, New Zealanders 1%, Others 13.7%

One might ask why this is so.

Is it because Pakeha Zealanders are not able or are incapable of recognising the place, the source, the icons and Whakapapa of there Pakeha culture – not as something separate and distant from who and where they are, but as much a part of who Pakeha are here and now.

What I am trying to say is that the Pakeha culture although several decades old lacks originality compared to Maori culture.

In order to gain an understanding of their heritage, and affirmation of who they are and what has made them, young Pakeha New Zealanders need to travel.

Back in New Zealand most are locked out of the country’s history, by language, so the sense of belonging is somewhat lost by almost half of the population.

There are around 10,000 religions in the world and New Zealand has its fair share of them, the lists of churches is endless all registered as charities, asset stripping the country.

There are 28,000 charities registered in New Zealand.

Not all the that glitters is gold.

( Three minute read)

Another Waitangi Day has passed in a really beautiful, an enchanting place.

However I remain of the opinion that white New Zealanders have little heart, when it comes to returning New Zealand to its indigenous people.

Overall they come across as a dreary and comfortable people with too much coffee time on their hands.

There is an obvious rift between the Maori and Pakeha, with the Waitangi treaty lost in translation by church committees and political verbal diarrhoea that only a after a 140 years of settler government a written constitution can settle.

Similar to (if it was ever to happen ) the unification of my country after hundreds of years of British occupation a written constitution would have to be drafted and agreed.

It’s too late to return land lives and apologise without REPARATIONS for what was stolen.

—————-

By 1970 New Zealand had almost 1000 local government councils and boards. ( how many to day ; a least 100)

There can be no doubt that the state of its economy and financial deficits require urgent attention.

Today it’s constitution basis is fragile, it needs to become a Republic with two chambers.

The word constitution has a relatively simple meaning.

It is a document which describes the fundamental principles upon which a nation state is governed, its separation of powers and functions.

This needs to be done before the Chinese Christian Church finds NZ rich feeding grounds to takes control of the country with an algorithm for the retired.

( Five minute read)

New Zealand needs to go back to basics.

By this I mean New Zealand needs to grow up.

Get rid of the pioneer just arrived bless you image of short with bear feet no matter the weather and try to speak English without the word Like.

God save, does nothing for a small country on the under belly of the earth.

It’s in desperate need of a written constitution, in order to give equality to its indigenous and its growing Asia/ India population’s.

Yes it’s made up of two islands on the bottom of the world, with two cultures, that could not be more separated by their beliefs, and traditions.

Yes it’s physical beauty, but it’s beauty is out weight by it’s traffic jams, it’s retirement homes, it’s lack of round about, it’s Māori named places with English named bays.

Yes thanks to the All Blacks and its yacht-men it’s world renowned for its sporting prowess.

Yes its cost of living is bleeding its youth to Australia and other parts of the world while its government fails to recognise how small and remote New Zealand is. It does not have very large populations living nearby. You can’t tax your way to prosperity. Tax the sale of any property is declaring war on rural New Zealand.

Yes it’s races.

Yes it has spent billions on children playground and nature tracks.

Yes it has enough low line fencing to go around the world twice.

Yes there is big big money in New Zealand.

Yes its market is still recovering from being dumped by the British Empire, and Covid.

Yes (like the Chagos Islands returning Mauritius after 200 years) it needs to break its English Empire colonisation and join world as an independent country.

Yes it still has sheep, kiwis, wine, and everything grows at a hundred miles an hour.

Yes its world image is still green CO2.

Yes it’s the land of the long white cloud, but it’s also the land of the long yellow traffic line, with never ending road maintenance.

Yes it’s keep up with the Jones housing market that remains free of Capital Gains tax. Having a bach/ holiday home is considered a birth right.

Yes its sun burn requires factor 50.

Yes it’s fully of old ugly men in shorts with legs tattooed up to their arse holes.

Yes like most countries it’s has violence.

Yes it’s volcanic, with a white and green galvanised roof houses on every hump.

Yes it’s welcoming, but difficult to make friends in.

Yes its exports markets are more and more reliant on China – Japanese markets.

Yes it’s professional people attract large salaries. Judges earning up to a half a million per year, but doctors earning 60% less than their counterparts in Australia.

Yes it’s a heaven for the retirement industry.

Yes it’s highly socially awkward.

Yes it’s run like all western countries by the Smartphone/Social Media.

Yes its health system needs investment.

Yes in a world without borders its educational aspersions lacks imagination.

Yes there are issues and grievances with the Waitangi Treaty. It has never been legislatively adopted as domestic law. There still not a commonly shared of the Treaty – its rights and obligations. Nor will there ever be till an agreed constitution is written.

This can only be achieved as an independent country.

Yes it’s has more verity of milk than cows.

Yes it’s a Mount Ruapehu.
